Until recently, it was largely blue collar jobs that have felt the brunt, as technologies automated assembly-line work. Now, researchers are beginning to see that artificial intelligence, robotics and new disruptive technology are challenging white-collar professions that previously seemed invulnerable.
Sharrock's insight:
The dangers to job replacement are greater because of robots that are based on software rather than hardware. There are no moving parts in many of our many task replacers. This article cites robots that analyze data and write narratives, diagnose health issues more accurately than human professionals generally do, and they also can provide advice. 

Some of the intellectual tasks are really routine tasks that involve analysis and pretty straightforward collation and narration. For now, humans are still needed for the non-routinized tasks we do in professional work.
