Superstars - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Superstars is an all-around sports competition that pits elite athletes from different sports against one another in a series of athletic events resembling a decathlon.

Athletes can compete in up to eight of the ten events, with no-one generally allowed to take part in their own sport, although some handicapping rules do apply.

The first Superstars featuring athletes based in North America was held in Rotonda West, Florida in February 1973 and was won by pole vaulter Bob Seagren. The first event featuring British athletes was held at Crystal Palace in August 1973, and was won by the 1968 Olympic 400 metre hurdles champion David Hemery. Further events featuring European athletes started from 1975, with six World Superstars championships taking place from 1977 to 1982.
