Do you wonder where we, as teacher leaders, stand on this issue?  I think it is one where the teacher voice could play an influential role BEFORE the standards are set and someone else co-op's the conversation.

Why Education Is the Hardest Sector of the Economy to Automate | Learning Technology News | Scoop.it
Automating teaching is an example of a task that would require artificial general intelligence (as opposed to narrow or specific intelligence). In other words, this is the kind of task that would require an AI that understands natural human language, can be empathetic towards emotions, plan, strategize and make impactful decisions under unpredictable circumstances.

Addressing the Digital Learning Gap with Effective Educator Coaching - Digital Promise | Learning Technology News | Scoop.it
To close this divide, we must fully support educators with the skills and tools they need to power up the learning environment. While there are many ways that teachers develop their competencies, one research backed strategy is classroom coaching. And, while there is limited research on coaching specifically for supporting powerful use of technology, early research studies point to the positive impact of educator coaching(1) on teacher practices and student achievement.

Top Digital Transformation Trends in Education - Future Of Work | Learning Technology News | Scoop.it
Typically, education is one of the last industries to make extensive change, holding on to antiquated methods and practices. But through the digital transformation and the rise of educational technology, teachers have begun making drastic changes to their instruction, assessments, even the physical make-up of their classrooms, and at a much faster rate than expected. These current trends are making headlines in education because of the ways in which they are impacting student learning:

When the teacher or principal has firsthand experience, and has directly benefitted from a truly holistic learning environment, she is an authentic role model and change champion. In addition, for experiential learning to be grasped, students need an empowered and skilled guide for the methodology, meaning that teachers and other educational leaders must integrate the importance of active learning and be able to demonstrate it from a place of firm belief in its value.

Managing challenging behaviour: UK state vs UAE local state school | ELT Consultants | Learning Technology News | Scoop.it
The key message I would like to get across in this blog is concerning the methods to overcome the challenging behaviours in the different establishments. The obvious method is to remove the barrier to learning. This may sound simple, but I have been unpleasantly surprised over the years at how some (not all) practitioners seek a “magic” solution from e.g. a head teacher or another colleague – when they are presented with a student with challenging behaviour in their class. If you do not deal with the behaviour yourself – the student will never have respect for you.

With regard to technology, education has to be in this for the long haul regardless of short-term loss as everything seeks to reconcile itself with everything else, much in the same way that the purpose of education is long-term–it should seek to improve the arc of students’ lives and the condition of their communities.

Valentina Duque's curator insight, August 15, 10:40 AM

I consider really important to take into account technology as part of our teaching methodologies. Nowadays, technology can not be let behind, since it has advanced considerably we can not isolate it from education. As a matter of fact, technology is a powerfull tool that can contribute positively if we plan how to use it correctly in order to benefit our learners.

Considerably it has advanced, reason why lots of teachers are afraid to use it.It is sometimes a big responsability and also, it is something that demands training and a lot of practice. However, we have to be conscious of this necessity to implement teaching sessions through technology, in order to guarantee to learners an updated and renewed educational system; besides, it would impact positively in our current  technological society and culture.

10 Pros And Cons Of A Flipped Classroom

10 Pros And Cons Of A Flipped Classroom | Learning Technology News | Scoop.it
The main goal of a flipped classroom is to enhance student learning and achievement by reversing the traditional model of a classroom, focusing class time on student understanding rather than on lecture. To accomplish this, teachers post short video lectures online for students to view at home prior to the next class session. This allows class time to be devoted to expanding on and mastering the material through collaborative learning exercises, projects, and discussions.

Digital welfare and e-safety for learners

Digital welfare and e-safety for learners | Learning Technology News | Scoop.it
Effective use of technology can revolutionise language learning and teaching allowing us to connect and share beyond the boundaries of the classroom. However, as well as increasing learning opportunities, it can also present very real and serious risks for the uninformed (Becta, 2005). A challenge for educators, therefore, is how to increase their learners’ learning opportunities without promoting potential risks associated with internet use.
