Visible Thinking involves several practices and resources. Teachers are invited to use with their students a number of "thinking routines" -- simple protocols for exploring ideas -- around whatever topics are important, say fractions arithmetic, the Industrial Revolution, World War II, the meaning of a poem, the nature of democracy. Developing and Implimenting Competency-based ICT Training for Teachers

Developing and Implimenting Competency-based ICT Training for Teachers | Learning Technology News | Scoop.it
In this highly connected and rapidly changing world, there is no doubt that teachers play a key role in successfully integrating ICT into education. Realizing the importance of teachers’ capacity to do this, governments, teacher education institutions, the private sector, and NGOs alike provide training opportunities – ranging from the skills needed to use a particular software, to integrating educational technologies, to innovating teaching to promote 21st century skills. However, more often than not, teachers’ actual use of ICT in the classroom is reported as incremental, merely reinforcing traditional teacher-centred approaches by using slides and drill-and-practice exercises.

Unlocking the Potential of Technology

Unlocking the Potential of Technology | Learning Technology News | Scoop.it

To thrive in a rapidly evolving, technology-mediated world, students must not only possess strong skills in areas such as language arts, mathematics and science, but they must also be adept at skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, persistence, collaboration and curiosity. All too often, however,
students in many countries are not attaining these skills. In this context, the World Economic Forum has taken on a multi-year initiative, New Vision for Education, to examine the pressing issue of skills gaps and explore ways to address these gaps
through technology.
