Students Want Teachers To Use Technology ASAP | learning technology that works | Scoop.it

So what happens when studies like this show good things? Teachers are using technology, and students like it, right? The satisfaction of students with current technology trends will probably just spur demand for more technology and more adaptations of using this technology in the classroom.

Why 21st century education is not just about technology

Why 21st century education is not just about technology | learning technology that works | Scoop.it

"Our district, like many others, has been having lots of conversations about '21st Century Education' and what it means for us. There are many books and articles written on the subject, but I think the big picture tends to get lost in the discussion, particularly at the local level. When one speaks of '21st Century Learning,' many people just assume it means adding iPads or other technology into the classroom. It’s much more than that, and actually speaks to a complete rethinking of the very structure of schooling."

Classifying K-12 Blended Learning | Innosight Institute

Classifying K-12 Blended Learning | Innosight Institute | learning technology that works | Scoop.it

By Heather Staker and Michael B. Horn

"This paper revises the preliminary blended-learning taxonomy that we introduced in “The rise of
K–12 blended learning,” published in January 2011, and its follow-on report, “The rise of K–12
blended learning: Profiles of emerging models,” published in May 2011. Its most notable change
is the condensing of the six blended-learning models to four. Numerous education experts
provided feedback to help us arrive at the four models. The following is a discussion of some of
the rationale behind the changes."

What Does 10,000 Hours of Game Play Teach? » Online Universities | learning technology that works | Scoop.it

If this is true, many young children today will have reached the expert level when they are 11 or 12. One question to ask, what does game based learning teach us?

Think 21st Century skills. This post discusses the following skills and how game based learning helps to meet them.

* Critical Thinking

* Problem Solving

* Collaboration/Communication

* Digital Citizenship

* ICT Literacy (defined in the post)
