Great resource I've passed onto our Art and Design and Student Union... see what fun I can have with my kids too - a very professional looking product at the end that students will be desperate to show off to friends and family :)
Earlier this month, Facebook dropped a bombshell by not only acknowledging that Facebook pages’ organic reach was declining but also by telling us we shouldn’t expect them to recover. Facebook’s VP of Product for Facebook Ads, Brian Boland, went on to explain that this is the new world we live in now, that the same thing happened with search engines before and that we’d better get used to it. It’s true that many platforms go through a similar cycle: first, they present a great free opportunity, then more and more people grab it - decreasing the return for everyone until finally, the platform focuses on those ready to pay for play. It happened with Google Search; it happened with Apps (yes, Apple doesn’t sell ads but others do - such as coincidentally... Facebook). And now that all social media are publicly-traded company with ambitious revenue targets to reach, it will happen to social media as well. Those are only two of the results of a RadiumOne study focusing on sharing behavior. RadiumOne is an enterprise advertising platform that operates the Po.st social sharing and URL-shortening platform — which naturally generates a lot of data on what people share, how they share, and what kind of sharing is the most effective. "The premium version of one of my favorite video creation apps, Animation Desk, is free today (At least in the U.S. I have not verified availability outside of the United States). Animation Desk is an iPad app for creating short, animated videos. The app allows you to create drawings using just your finger on your iPad’s screen."
A lovely collection of mindmapping tools to share with your organisation - could be added to resources for learning support too - although with the suggestion to use at home if your IT have selected 2 particular packages and that is all they will support, like ours have communicated to us :)
Once the MOOC 'revolution' got underway, universities, usually slow-moving and tight-fisted institutions, couldn't run fast enough to put their own MOOCs online. And, right now, we're seeing the results.
Jasmin Hodge's insight:
This post suggests interestingly that the rush of free MOOCS may have ran their own course. This could be due to poor engagement and low return for what can be a heavy outlay, to name a few! I absolutely agree, and hadn't gave it much thought until now. So, squeeze in what you can as the choices may fade
