Sheri Edwards's insight:

This is where many teachers are thinking towards, but are always pulled back from; schools are tied up in past histories and present pundits -- both with managed mandates.

Education is constantly changing. While I have a problem with the fact that the century is over a decade old and we are still discussing the 21st century in education as if it were newly hatched, we do need to continually reframe the way we teach and expect learners to learn.

Bret Victor: A Revolutionary Look at Embodied Dynamic Cognition

Bret Victor: A Revolutionary Look at Embodied Dynamic Cognition | Learning Pathways: CLMOOC, MOOCS, TwitterChat & Beyond | Scoop.it
The hair on the nape of my neck rises as I note the approach of a new idea, a new friend. I take hand and we walk together. And then I am never the same again. It's the "check valve effect". The fu...
Terry Elliott's insight:

Hard to describe the sense of newness in this video. Many of these are ideas I have never thought before that mesh with other ideas I have thought before, gearing together without any need for oil or adjustment. That feeling of meshing is very rare in my intellectual and professional life so I am paying close attention here.

Honor by Annotating: Susan Watson's "Quicksand, Ellipses"... | Learning Pathways: CLMOOC, MOOCS, TwitterChat & Beyond | Scoop.it
I have taken Susan Watson's latest post/poem (I sure wish she would post more often) and put it into Genius so that folks could close read and honor the work she does. I consider this the full mont...
Terry Elliott's insight:

This has been quite a learning pathway for me. It never starts with a tool.  It starts with an urge to do and share.  It truly is Jarche's idea of 'seek-sense-share' that is for me the holy trinity of learning. I seek to explore in this case a poem/post by a friend. I want to make sense of it by slowing down and moving just as slowly in my reciprocation as she did in creating it. And, last, I want to share as widely and as publicly as possible.

Terry Elliott's insight:

The autodidact reigns supreme in the personal learning ecology today.  Top of the food chain?  No, instead, he or she is the mother node in the net.

The online Project NextTech has a curriculum organized around three core literacies: technology literacy, information literacy and media literacy.
Terry Elliott's insight:

This is the kind of project that has an interesting gloss on the surface but under scrutiny looks to be yet another attempt to steal blood from the K-12 body politic like so many companies are trying to do with the Common Core.  This is just my judgement at first. I am willing to look further but only if someone can point to something truly student empathic and non-self serving.

A fun set of Applications (Many Free) for Project Based Teaching and Learning. The contemporary classroom can be rather different than what we were used to
Terry Elliott's insight:

I can attest to these tools. Of the ones I have not used, I would like to work with reeldirector (https://itunes.apple.com/en/app/reeldirector/id334366844) the most.  I used to recommend Animoto, but now I realize that it is way too automatic and takes agency away from the learner and puts it into the app designer's hands.  Not maker friendly. #maker

Technology/Fun/Learning via the "clmooc" (with image, tweets) · SESlibrarian

Caught up in a technology course and not yet owning the maker identity, I've been lurking: watching as educators have used technology to play, connect, reflect, learn, MAKE, and more--all via the clmooc (a Massive Open Online Collaboration about...
Terry Elliott's insight:

Confessions of a lurker on the cusp.  Why does lurking continue to have such malingering overtones?  CLMOOC is a place for lurkers to step into a different role, an active one.  Or keep lurking. We are very glad Heather has de-lurked and joined in the fun.  The water's fine.
