Linking Projects, Ideas, and Concepts with Popplet

Linking Projects, Ideas, and Concepts with Popplet | Learning & iPads | Scoop.it

Beyond using it as a mindmapping or graphic organizer tool, students could use Popplet to illustrate the steps of a process or sequence, such as a Popplet lab report showing reactions, steps, processes, and procedures. Similarly, Popplet could become an interactive timeline - complete with digital artifacts such as video and images from primary sources. Given the ability to incorporate links, images, and video, Popplet could even make a for a highly visual student portfolio tool.

Too often the iPad is written off as purely a device for a consuming content created by someone else. Here are some easy ways that even the youngest children can create their own content using an iPad (I particularly love the iPad Spy idea!).

Educational Technology Guy: Google launches Google Connected Classrooms with Virtual Field Trips

Educational Technology Guy: Google launches Google Connected Classrooms with Virtual Field Trips | Learning & iPads | Scoop.it
Google just announced Google Connected Classrooms, which allows classes to take virtual field trips using Google+ Hangouts. Field Trip locations include the Seattle Aquarium, Minnesota Zoo, American Museum of Natural History, the Philadelphia Museum of Art and more. More trips are coming also. The field trips are live hosted events, but past events are archived and can be viewed later. Teachers can also work together on plans and activities. This is a great resource for teachers and students to be able to learn and explore without ever leaving the classroom.

10 Fantastic iPad Apps for Kids With Autism

10 Fantastic iPad Apps for Kids With Autism | Learning & iPads | Scoop.it
If you need a last-minute gift for a kid with autism, and that kid has an iDevice (iPad or iPod touch), consider hitting the iTunes store and gifting that child an app or two. Then, consider choosing apps that focus on fun as much as or even instead of communication and learning. Apps that encourage kids to use the iPad the way they want to, to play like the children they are. (Apps that just happen to all cost less than $3.)

The Frugal Teacher: iPad Integration That Works!

"Back in November my class received 10 iPads from our technology department and we were told to "have fun". Our district has gone 1:1 in the secondary schools, be we are only one of two elementary classrooms that recevied iPads. Of course I was thrilled, but then I realized that I would need to spend some time thinking about how to successfully integrate them in to our daily routine and find apps that would fit our curriculum.
