Linking Projects, Ideas, and Concepts with Popplet

Linking Projects, Ideas, and Concepts with Popplet | Learning & iPads | Scoop.it

Beyond using it as a mindmapping or graphic organizer tool, students could use Popplet to illustrate the steps of a process or sequence, such as a Popplet lab report showing reactions, steps, processes, and procedures. Similarly, Popplet could become an interactive timeline - complete with digital artifacts such as video and images from primary sources. Given the ability to incorporate links, images, and video, Popplet could even make a for a highly visual student portfolio tool.

Dean Mantz's curator insight, December 9, 2013 7:51 AM

Thank you John Evans for sharing this infographic on creating QR code scavenger hunts via iPads on your scoop.it/t/ipads-in-education page.

Catherine Smyth's curator insight, December 12, 2013 3:38 PM

There are many affordances for QR codes in history. Pose an historical inquiry question and get students to gather clues (evidence) using primary sources embedded with a QR code at a museum, local community, school etc. Or, get primary students to create their own QR codes for artefacts. This could engage students in historical inquiry and the analysis and use of primary and secondary sources.

Educational Technology Guy: Google launches Google Connected Classrooms with Virtual Field Trips

Educational Technology Guy: Google launches Google Connected Classrooms with Virtual Field Trips | Learning & iPads | Scoop.it
Google just announced Google Connected Classrooms, which allows classes to take virtual field trips using Google+ Hangouts. Field Trip locations include the Seattle Aquarium, Minnesota Zoo, American Museum of Natural History, the Philadelphia Museum of Art and more. More trips are coming also. The field trips are live hosted events, but past events are archived and can be viewed later. Teachers can also work together on plans and activities. This is a great resource for teachers and students to be able to learn and explore without ever leaving the classroom.

The Frugal Teacher: iPad Integration That Works!

The Frugal Teacher: iPad Integration That Works! | Learning & iPads | Scoop.it

"Back in November my class received 10 iPads from our technology department and we were told to "have fun". Our district has gone 1:1 in the secondary schools, be we are only one of two elementary classrooms that recevied iPads. Of course I was thrilled, but then I realized that I would need to spend some time thinking about how to successfully integrate them in to our daily routine and find apps that would fit our curriculum. Silhouettes with Superimpose App - Dryden Art

Silhouettes with Superimpose App - Dryden Art | Learning & iPads | Scoop.it
"The Superimpose app (.99) was first brought to my attention from Abby Escobal via a twitter conversation over the summer. It does a few cool thing on an iPad that are very needed for layering images, creating overlays, and silhouettes. Photoshop-ish apps like ArtStudio do these things too, but it is 4.99 and a complicated interface. This app has some limiting features, but you can do so much still that it's a MUST for my elementary students. I spent a ton of time yesterday and today exploring possibilities and LOVE what I've discovered."
