33 Great Apps for Storytelling and Creativity | learning by using iPads | Scoop.it

"Here are the main apps I suggest for storytelling. Some of them are actual bookmaking apps, some are apps for creating stories in various ways and others are apps I would use to help kids plan out a story. I have listed them in the order of importance for my classroom. I think the first 10 on the list are a must have for all elementary classrooms."

Technology Through the Years Infographic

Technology Through the Years Infographic | learning by using iPads | Scoop.it
When we think about how much technology has changed over just the most recent decades, it’s hard to imagine what things will be like 20, or even 10, years from now. Because of how fast things are moving, it’s worth taking a look back to see how far we’ve come. This timeline, while by no means comprehensive, gives you a look at some of the major tech events that took place over the past two decades.
Viljenka Savli (http://www2.arnes.si/~sopvsavl/)'s insight:

According to Moore’s law, computer processing speed doubles every 18 months; scientists now suggest that all technological change grows at an exponential rate. As futurist Ray Kurzweil put it in 2001, “We won’t experience 100 years of progress in the 21st century— it will be more like 20,000 years of progress.” Such rapid progress means that there is industry-wide demand for trained tech professionals.

Check out our interactive timeline to learn more about technology’s past, and how you can become a part of its future.

7 Myths About Rigor In The Classroom

7 Myths About Rigor In The Classroom | learning by using iPads | Scoop.it
Despite all the research, there are seven myths about rigor that are often heard. Let’s look at each, then turn our attention to the true meaning of rigor.
Viljenka Savli (http://www2.arnes.si/~sopvsavl/)'s insight:

I like this: Rigor is not another thing to add to your plate. Instead, rigor is increasing the level of expectation of what you are already doing. For example, if you are teaching vocabulary, instead of asking students to write their own definition of the word, ask them to write a riddle. It’s the same end result, but at higher levels of Bloom’s Taxonomy.
