Des idées évidentes mais sans doute pas encore pour tout le monde !

Ivon Prefontaine's curator insight, May 6, 2014 12:55 PM

Relationships are at the centre of education. It is no longer teacher-centred or learner-centred. In a sense, teachers and students are learning alongside each other. I am not sure it will always be the teacher leading the way although they have to be willing to know when to let go and when to take charge. Content is still incredibly important in that unless it connects to the lives of teachers and students it is not practical and meaningful. Technology is rarely seamlessly integrated.

Prof. Geoff West from the University of Western Sydney talks about the capabilities aka attributes that industry leaders want in graduates. These ain't theory they are facts from from years of research... HE pay attention! How do we map these to learning outcomes, activities and the needed technology to help students excel in these, get employed and make a difference? Any one got any ideas?

This was a useful interpretation of a complex paper - neatly explaining a little more about learning theories: behaviourism, cognitivism and constructivism - with elements of instructional design sprinkled throughout.

At The Padagogy Wheel Core: Immersive Learning Targets Engagement

At The Padagogy Wheel Core: Immersive Learning Targets Engagement | Learners and teachers and 21st century learning | Scoop.it

The new version of the Padagogy Wheel tackles a major question that is lurking in the back of everyone’s mind. If it’s not … it should be. It’s about the problem of motivation in education. How do we motivate students, teachers, parents, and everyone else to get excited about learning? How do you stay motivated? What works and what doesn’t?”

The 12 Must-Have Skills Of Modern Learners - Edudemic

The 12 Must-Have Skills Of Modern Learners - Edudemic | Learners and teachers and 21st century learning | Scoop.it
If you use technology to bolster your understanding of a particular topic, use critical thinking and problem-solving skills to tackle tough questions, or simply collaborate across networks (online and in-person), then you've got some of the skills of modern learners.
Anthea Arkcoll's insight:

Understanding the necessary skills for successful learning today, and trying to predict the skills that will be important for future learning, a key responsibility of 'guides on the side' is to make mastery of these skills specified learning outcomes.  Then to provide learning opportunities and scaffolding that develop these skills.

A wise guide will recognise that many of those skills will be developed outside a formal educational setting.

A truly transformational learning setting would also make provision for the reversal of roles, when dealing with new technologies where the 'learner' may actually be the 'more knowledgeable other' in that situation.

For example how many parents and educators, on encountering a problem with multimedia and computer technology regard their children as the first point of help.
