Welcome to the jungle: the botanist trying to alter perceptions of rainforests

During his lifetime Francis Hallé has seen too many primary forests obliterated. Now he has joined director Luc Jacquet to make a film, Il Etait une Forêt, celebrating the ones that are left

Christian Allié's curator insight, October 23, 2013 1:18 PM

Students’ Perceptions and Experiences of Mobile Learning

Students’ Perceptions and Experiences of Mobile Learning | Learn | Scoop.it

This study focused on how students perceive the use of mobile devices to create a personalized learning experience outside the classroom. Fifty-three students in three graduate TESOL classes participated in this study. All participants completed five class projects designed to help them explore mobile learning experiences with their own mobile devices, incorporating technologies such as YouTube and VoiceThread. We identified characteristics of these mobile users in Mobile Language Learning (MLL), and the results illuminate how MLL opens up new pedagogical scaffoldings.

I get so excited when I see more developments on tyring to intergrate technology and education. This is because by combining learning with education, scholars get the opportunity of understanding academics through everyday technology such as their mobile phones. This article also interests me because I am interested in finding out how technology can assist teachers in making subjects such as maths and science more easier for learners.

21 Startups and 4 Trends You Need to Know Now | Digital - Advertising Age

21 Startups and 4 Trends You Need to Know Now | Digital - Advertising Age | Learn | Scoop.it

The tech-startup world is one of constant development and rapid innovation, and it's hard to keep up. Here are four emerging categories and the startups within each to keep your eye on.

Founded by former photographer and video journalist Danfung Dennis, Condition One offers a video technology that changes how people create and view video for mobile devices.

The software is designed to give viewers the feeling that they're "there," right where the video was shot. As viewers turn their phones to the left or right, the perspective and frame of reference shifts with them -- as if they were behind the camera looking in either direction.

This isn't video that can be but rather is meant to be viewed on mobile devices, taking full advantage of the fact that users can move and manipulate their phones, something they can't really do to their TVs. The use cases range from 360-degree tours of car interiors to creation of remote-participation experiences for concerts and sports games.
