This article is important in showing how change will not simply occur because of the creation of new technology. There needs to be some paradigm shift in the way people think.

15 iPad Apps to Enhance Students Creativity ~ Educational Technology and Mobile Learning

15 iPad Apps to Enhance Students Creativity ~ Educational Technology and Mobile Learning | Learn | Scoop.it

"I am revisiting this topic of enhancing students creativity using iPad apps for the second time this year. Almost 10 months ago I featured here in Educational Technology and Mobile Learning a selection of some great apps http://bit.ly/185Tusc that can be used in class to boost students creative thinking; and today and after having reviewed hundred of new educational apps since that post, I decided to compile an updated version of that list and include some newly featured apps in the category of creativity.

Of course by creativity I mean giving students the chance to take their learning to the next step, one in which they are active producers and participators in knowledge building. Creativity is all about creation and iPad is an ideal device to support this creative thinking. Check out the apps I have handpicked for you today and share with us if you have other suggestions :"

This infographic looks at science,specifically the value of teaching students science from a young age because of the many skills that are developed. These skills include developing questions, collecting evidence, forming decisions, constructing information and communicating. It also discusses the FERA cycle, as in:

* Focus

* Explore

* Reflect

* Apply

The infographic then explores how STEM has the ability to impact her choices throughout her lifetime. This infographic was created by the Smithsonian and provides great information throughout (including a more detailed explanation of the FERA cycle).

Alan Agresti and Chris Franklin have merged their research and classroom experience to develop this successful introductorystatistics text. Statistics: The Art and Science of Learning from Data, Third Edition, helps students become statistically literate by encouraging them to ask and answer interesting statistical questions. It takes the ideas that have turned statistics into a central science in modern life and makes them accessible and engaging to students without compromising necessary rigor.

The Third Edition has been edited for conciseness and clarity to keep students focused on the main concepts. The data-rich examples that feature intriguing human-interest topics now include topic labels to indicate which statistical topic is being applied. New learning objectives for each chapter appear in the Instructor’s Edition, making it easier to plan lectures and Chapter 7 (Sampling Distributions) now incorporates simulations in addition to themathematical formulas.

I had a chance to start reading the latest book by John Hattie, written in collaboration with cognitive scientist Greg Yates. It is a hefty tome. Well, it would be if I hadn’t bought it on kindle. I’m a fast reader and I’ve had time on my hands. But I’m still only half way through. What is without doubt though, is that this will be a seminal and important educational text.
