Could artificial intelligence offer better customer service than humans? | | Independent Bytesize Blogs | leapmind | Scoop.it

AI can prompt and assist humans. In the old days the grocer knew all about you, your family, what you liked etc. This worked because they were small and local. Of course today people would have privacy fears if a random check out person was to prompt you that you hadn't bought pet food for a while.
John Lasschuit ®™'s comment, March 6, 2013 1:54 PM
Customer service is a quality aspect. Quality is not measurable, therefore it cannot be quantified. AI is digital and therefore a form of quantification. It can never offer quality which is the key for customer service. Humans still do have something that cannot be defined which make them others experience quality and that seperates us from AI, robots en technology in general.
Imersia's comment, March 6, 2013 1:58 PM
Agreed. Grocery apps now have the ability to provide recipes, promote contextualized and personalized recommendations and are less intrusive. On the other hand, grocery is still a personal business (for now) and AI can assist in providing an improved service that makes people feel they are important. LTV is really important in grocery and the size of stores makes it harder to offer a real personal service other than a genuine smile.
