At the outset, the author believes we need to get rid of the terms teach and teacher from our lexicon and start talking about the ‘learning leader’. It immediately changes the focus from teacher-centred to learner-centred approaches.

The reference to Ralph Stacey overcame the references to pop culture  i.e. Charlie Sheen. Michael Fullan referenced Stacey extensively in some of his writing about School leadership. I would go to Stacey's work directly as it is more complex than Fullan gave it credit for and is quite controversial.

There is no mention of how each country will embrace these changes. How will teachers contribute to these platforms? Is it reasonable to expect a few people will be creating the content on which all others will rely?

Nicholas Pringle's comment, May 21, 2013 3:21 AM
Peope talk of a planet wide democratization of education yet it will be up to the educators to take ownership of these products and platforms to adjust them to their needs as well as their students.
Ana Cristina Pratas's comment, May 21, 2013 3:31 AM
Yes, educators have the choice and so do learners. Accountability for one's choices and responsibility for one's learning process is part of life. There are few barriers today. Obviously, access to hardware and electricity are essential, as well as knowing that there are available options. Nevertheless, the saying "You can lead a horse to water but not make it drink" remains as true as ever.
