The following is based upon a survey by Constant Contact:

 

Regardless of age, 80% of smartphone owners say it is “extremely important” to be able to read emails on their mobile devices.

 

75% of respondents say they are highly likely to DELETE an email if it is not readable on a smartphone.

 

Think about this.  Smartphones are replacing the laptop as the primary device for accessing data.  What does this say about the structure of your website, emails and other communication?  They better be formatted to the smartphone.
