Sans questions pas de raisonnement.

D'ailleurs, qu'est ce que la réflexion si ce n'est l'enchaînement de questions?

Et l'intelligence ne serait elle pas simplement l'enchaînement de bonne questions?

The World of Teaching Part 1: America

The World of Teaching Part 1: America | Leadership, Innovation, and Creativity | Scoop.it
A collection of infographics on the state of the teaching profession for education workers and other interested parties.

Via Paul Murray
Ivon Prefontaine's insight:

We should realize other governments are failing our Schools, teachers, and students, hence the communities they live in. We should not just ask where male teachers have gone. We should ask, "What are the reasons male teachers left the profession?" This is not just about male teachers leaving and not entering teaching. It is about the systemic reasons they leave. Schools are places of oppression. It is in this light we should ask our questions. For example, we should ask about the increase in part-time contracts.

Via Gust MEES, Suvi Salo
Ivon Prefontaine's insight:

The feedback point is interesting. It is about information given to students relative to their learning goals. Feedback also means feedback for the teacher. What do we mean by student goals? What does this mean in relationship to curricula-as-plans. It suggests that teaching and learning are part of complex conversations (Pinar) and that the curricula-as-lived (Aoki) are important considerations.

As teachers we may "know" these strategies but we may not "remember" them all the time.  As we learn how important visual aids are for students we should also recognize they are important for teachers. Take time to review these strategies by checking out this infographic. It may make a difference in your classroom!

Kirsten Macaulay's curator insight, February 19, 2014 4:30 AM

A literacy-rich environment in classrooms and schools, for example, is an important K-12 foundation to support and extend effective instruction. And, effective vocabulary instruction (here, here, here, and here, too) is an integral part of a comprehensive literacy framework and supports student learning and achievement. Building a common language educators is also important, though frequently lacking. A common language helps teachers, coaches, and administrators communicate more easily and specifically around instructional strategies associated with literacy instruction, educational initiatives, and the Common Core State Standards

Kelly Christopherson's curator insight, September 13, 2014 3:29 PM

Simple and effective! I like the four different components, especially 3 and 4. We sometimes focus too much on 1 and 2. Making it "Real" is important as it helps to see how things will actually unfold. Making it "Satisfying" speaks to how we sometimes make plans that fulfill the "Get it done" category but do not fulfill the deeper connections.
