The 50 Best Social Psychology Books on Persuasion, Influence and Understanding Your Brain

The 50 Best Social Psychology Books on Persuasion, Influence and Understanding Your Brain | Leadership and EQ | Scoop.it

Have you ever wanted to be more persuasive, convincing, or if nothing else, understand how others try to influence you? …Of course! Who hasn’t?

Understanding how storytelling works in persuasion, influence, and change, and the research/neuroscience that informs it all is critical if anyone is going to work with stories effectively.

And hooray -- Gregory Ciotti has put together his list of favorite books that help us understand persuasion, influence, change, and stories more deeply. We'll all become more articulate and better at our craft -- whether you are a consultant, storyteller, entrepreneur or CEO.

Some of these I've read, some I haven't -- so I can't wait to dig into this list myself.

I hope we all learn lots and gain lots of useable insights for our work. Enjoy!

You want your colleagues, visitors to behave more responsable in using resources, like boardmarkers, paper towels, lights, etc...?

Read this article and see how your good intentions by facilitating the responsable behaviour gets a negative result. People start to use more in stead of less.

Now the article also includes how you should prevent people from doing that!

60% of Employees Haven’t Gotten Useful Feedback From Boss in 6 Months | Leadership and EQ | Scoop.it
Since 2008 and the recession, employees have gone into survival mode.  They are surviving work.  This means doing what it takes to make a buck and stay afloat.  Sometimes that means losing their home to foreclosure in order to pay their other bills, moonlighting at a second job, or working at a crappy job that didn’t give a damn.

It is amazing to see how the economy has not only affected the employment rates but also the management/leadership's attitudes towards their employees. The sad trends highlighted in this article have become common in today's organizations for the past 5 years. But leaders and managers, beware that these attitudes are short-sighted and going to become your own trap once the economy swings up again...

How do you define success?

For author and speaker Simon Sinek, success is waking up every single day inspired to go to work and coming home at the end of the day fulfilled by the work you do. That sense of fulfillment comes in large part from having the opportunity to share our gifts and support others at work. So where we work, the culture of the place, plays a significant role in our own feelings of success.

When it comes to a business, success is having the ability to help others grow. That means making enough money to look after your people and care for them, give them the support and resources they need to invent and innovate, learn as much as they can and grow as human beings. The more a company builds a culture that allows people to grow, the better the company will do financially.

Achieving that kind of success absolutely requires a clear understanding of your Why. There is no way around it.
