Today, meetings consume close to 40-50% of executive time. That’s 100 days per year! By some measures 80% of meeting time could be better invested in closing business, developing talent, recruiting new customers, conceiving new products or improving operations – just about anything other than gathering for another conversation without productive outcomes.

What are the messages you need to communicate, and what are the best channels to reach your target market? Assuming there's already a general PR plan in place, start with a focus on online media and industry conferences. - - Blogs. Leadership is a process of social influence: it is concerned with the traits, styles, and behaviours of individuals that causes others to follow them. Management is the act of getting people together to accomplish desired goals. Or to put it really simply, we all need to be leaders and managers. We need to be able to influence others through our ideas, words, and actions. We also need to be able to get work done through others on a day-to-day basis.

David Hain's curator insight, July 14, 7:14 AM

Leader? Manager? Most of us are both - it's knowing where the intersection is and what to do in context that matters!

Schumpeter: Decluttering the company

Schumpeter: Decluttering the company | Leadership | Scoop.it

PETER DRUCKER once observed that, “Much of what we call management consists of making it difficult for people to work.” Nine years after the management guru’s death, his remark is truer than ever: employees often have to negotiate a mass of clutter—from bulging inboxes to endless meetings and long lists of objectives to box-tick—before they can focus on their real work. For the past 50 years manufacturers have battled successfully to streamline their factory floors and make them “lean”.

Today, businesses of all types need to do the same in their offices.

Via Kenneth Mikkelsen

Tania Tytherleigh's curator insight, August 3, 6:57 AM

Organisations are filled with 'clutter'. From tiers of management, to increasingly complex corporate objectives, meetings and emails. Clutter takes a toll on morale and productivity. Organisations must set time aside to 'spring clean' the clutter - when will you do yours?

Graeme Reid's curator insight, August 5, 1:57 AM

There is a lot of decluttering to do in most organisations.

10 Time Saving Tips For Social Media Marketing

10 Time Saving Tips For Social Media Marketing | Leadership | Scoop.it
You’ve heard the saying, “Time is Money.” This couldn’t be more true especially as we are increasingly involved in social media interactions online. With just 24 hours given to us each day, it is important to make the best use of time in order to become more focused and productive. Social media is a great way to promote your brand or business and make connections with high influencers in your industry. But there are approximately 300 different social platforms out there, with Facebook, Twitter, Google Plus, Instagram, LinkedIn and YouTube at the top of the list. It’s easy to get lost in the sea of instant information, and lose the effectiveness of your marketing online.
