Thank You, Veterans 

Sometimes that's all it takes. A simple thank you. The acknowledgement that we have pride in our veterans and sincere gratitude for their bravery and sacrifice. As Pres. Wilson put it, "To us in America, the reflections of Armistice Day will be filled with lots of pride in the heroism of those who died in the country's service and with gratitude for the victory, both because of the thing from which it has freed us and because of the opportunity it has given America to show her sympathy with peace and justice in the councils of the nations." 

If you feel like expressing more. If you want to use a nice quote like Wilson's or a nice image like the one below, it may seem daunting to many businesses and bloggers. What are some good quotes to use? Where can I find images that I'm allowed to use? What's Veterans Day all about to begin with? 

Today's article is a tribute to veterans, but it's also a resource for other bloggers and businesses active on social media, who want to share a message of Thanks and Remembrance, but aren't sure where to begin. Lots of resonance here - in terms of working as a leader with other teachers, and in terms of teaching and providing feedback to students. The notion of postivies plus constructive criticism and honesty aligns with formative assessment principles, too, eg Medals and Missions (Petty).

(From the article): Leadership has one definition: leaders are willing to sacrifice themselves for their people. As a senior leader you have to extend the circle wider, and if you have 3 people that work for you, your job is to work for them.

 

Real leaders are the very few willing to sacrifice themselves for their people. When they do, we will do anything to see that our leader's visions are advanced.
