Wow! Free Download just what every educator likes to hear! The download is, however, only a taster. You need to purchase the book for a complete view. I think it is probably worth it. This has some great ideas and is certainly up to date. You are able to purchase the book but there is a free download option at the top of the page.

The dictionary covers various topics like de Bono's Thinking Hats, guided and independent reading strategies, spelling strategies and more. I think every teacher needs this!

Ness Crouch's insight:

There is a new take on Pedagogy learning in the cyberworld! Very useful picture.

Brad Ovenell-Carter's curator insight, April 5, 2:37 PM

This critique is a welcome sign that our conversations around educational technology are maturing, a sign that we are moving from (mere) blogging of ideas to richer dialogue.

Ivon Prefontaine's curator insight, April 5, 8:11 PM

I can use this as I begin to explore my dissertation topic more extensively. The challenge here might be that we simply are making up new theories when the old ones are fine. What is not fine is that we are not changing the organization and structure of our educational system to meet new learning needs.

Four Meaningful Ways Students Can Contribute | MindShift

Four Meaningful Ways Students Can Contribute | MindShift | Leader of Pedagogy | Scoop.it

"Bestselling author and educational expert Alan November’s new book Who Owns the Learning?: Preparing Students for Success in the Digital Age compiles lessons learned over 30 years of educational experience. Beginning with his first teaching job, November began to realize that the most powerful education happens when students take ownership of their learning and when they feel that what they produce contributes meaningfully to a community."

Via John Evans
Ness Crouch's insight:

I certainly agree. Giving students choice and control of their learning empowers them, encourages risk taking in learning and also inspires confidence. In my experience when children are guided through a learning process first they develop skills and confidence to independently learn.

Exploring Curation as a core competency in digital and media literacy education

Via Robin Good
Ness Crouch's insight:

Great to have a little evidence to add to the discussion about curation as a tool. I'm a fan of online curation and think that it strengthens teacher's understandings and develops connections with the wider learning community.

Nancy White's curator insight, May 13, 9:12 AM

I am very excited to find this work to share with my teachers. I continue to get pushback as I try to encourage them to allow time for students to curate.  The fact of the matter is that true curation takes time, but the skills gained by students cannot be ignored, and research and critical analysis are found throughout the Common Core Standards. Curation is also a pathway to personalized learning as students pursue their own areas of interest through the art of curation.
