SafeIP has IP addresses in ten locations, including multiple servers in the US and the UK, and a handful of locations in places like Hong Kong, the Netherlands, Canada, Austria, Poland, Italy, Germany, and France. You can select any one you choose to have your traffic routed through their servers so any site you visit or app you open thinks you're in that location instead of where you are. SafeIP even lets you change your IP without disconnecting and reverting to your original one first, and can be told to run at startup, or automatically change your IP on a schedule you set (the default is every 10 minutes). By default, SafeIP works as a proxy—there is an option to encrypt your traffic in the settings, the way a VPN would, but it's not on by default. Make note: SafeIP is built for private browsing and getting around location restrictions, not security. The app boasts some enhanced features like malware protection and ad blocking (although those features really just try to block items via your HOSTS file; it's not worth enabling when you have better options available). While the app is free, there is a "Pro" version ($30) that adds Wi-Fi protection (much like what Disconnect already does), and some other features we don't really think are worth the cash. If the app sounds interesting, stick to the free version. You can grab it at the link below. SafeIP is available as Free and Pro ($29.95) versions, the latter of which boasts some extra perks like speed boost, WiFi protection, and torrent privacy. The app works on both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows XP, Vista, 7 and 8. SafeIP : http://goo.gl/KUNUI

Google alerts is content monitoring service by Google search giant. When you input certain keywords, you get alerts for those keywords when they’re indexed by Google search engines. It will send notification email to you when Google finds new results for your keywords. Results can be anything on web, images, blogs, news, etc. Who uses Google alerts? Companies and business can use Google alert to find out what is being said about them or their product. You keep up to date on competitor or industry. You can also find out the latest happenings on your favorite product or company. For example: If Apple is launching something in a couple of days, you can subscribe to alerts related to the keyword ‘Apple’, ‘iPhone’, ‘iPad’, ‘Mac OS’, ‘Macbook’ etc. Recently there is lot of issues with Google alerts. I could find lot of people complaining about Google alerts don’t work, Google alerts fails to deliver to feed, Google alerts doesn’t work multiple keywords etc. There is a new service called Talkwalker Alerts that resembles Google alerts with more features. It’s a complete keyword monitoring service with built in analysis and reporting tool. It scans the web and social media world thoroughly for the information and displays them in a structured manner. You can view all the results from the web browser. You can get email alerts or just like Google alerts you can direct it to RSS feeds. So all the information will be stored as RSS feed which you can check out later using an RSS feed reader. Talkwalker alerts can be used for brand monitoring, campaign tracking, competitor monitoring, market research, customer service, reputation management. Especially I use it for monitoring product’s reputation and service. We don’t know where our customers complaint about our product on the web. For example: If you go to customer complaints website, lot of negative reviews and complaints about any product can be found. So I use alerts for my product with negative keywords/complaints to find out and help the issue. This is just one way of using the service. You can use it for multiple situations.

KL-Detector is a portable freeware that will help you detect if any keylogger or monitoring software is installed on your Windows computer. Mind you, this keylogger detctor freeware will only tell if you any keylogger software is installed on your computer – it will not remove the keylogger – you will have to do it yourself. Moreover it cannot detect hardware keyloggers – no software can! KL-Detector works by scanning your local hard disk for any log file created during the monitoring process. Most keyloggers will eventually save the recorded data into a location in the hard disk. KL-Detector will inform you of such a log file. To get best results, you will have to terminate your visible running programs including you antivirus, files and folders. Once this is done, and the keylogger detector freeware starts monitoring, you will be asked to write anything in Notepad, or in fact do anything which involves the use of your keyboard. KL Detector will then monitor your hard disk for a newly created log file. This is because keyloggers usually note down your keyboartd activities in a log file and save them. If any newly generated log file is created, the color of the program icon will change. If after 15 minutes or so, if the color does not change, it means that the keylogger detctor freeware could not detect any newly generated log file. While this cannot be said to be fool-proof, it would normally indicate that your computer is free from a keylogger. You can use KL-Detector to detect keyloggers in public computer before you enter your password, credit card information and so on. KL Detector : http://goo.gl/g7ug3

Learn the easiest ways to sync files between two or more computers, using various methods: online clouds, local network sharing or specialized applications. It can be an exhausting job to copy files from one computer to another, whether it’s a new laptop or that processing monster you always wanted. Without the right means or methods, sometimes simple tasks can take extended periods of time. A wise solution for this kind of problems can be found in syncing applications, which basically do the entire job for you. There are two types of software: the first one is made up by specially designed applications for syncing different devices while the second, cloud services, has an ampler scope but can also be used for our purpose. The main difference between these two solutions is that with a cloud you will also have a backup copy kept online. On the other hand, those choosing the cloud solution will probably have to buy a premium account if they have a lot of files that need to be transferred. Today we will present some titles from each category, while showing how to tweak important settings of each. At the end of the day, you should be able to use these applications to synchronizeyour favorite files between two or more devices. SyncToy (http://goo.gl/7VSfb) SyncToy is a free PowerToy application from Microsoft that synchronizes files between computers connected to the same network. It is compatible with all versions of the Windows platform but unfortunately, it doesn’t offer support for Mac OS. The application is highly customizable, easy to use and helps users to do most processes in just a few steps, including copying, moving, and synchronization. FreeFileSync (http://goo.gl/CY5lZ) FreeFileSync is a basic and simple to use application for syncing all types of files. The app comes with a folder comparison and synchronization tool that will do the entire job, as soon as the user completes these following steps: + Download FreeFileSync. + Open the application and a folder you want to clone information from and its destination. + Now, “Compare” the files and select synchronization settings, after your liking. + After that, press the “Synchronize” button. BitTorrent Sync (http://goo.gl/1Sz8M) BitTorrent Sync is a free tool from the creators of the well-known torrent client, which allows syncing files easily and securely between computers using the peer-to-peer protocol. The advantage of this application is that none of your files are going to cloud, but directly to the other computer. Note that both computers must be connected to internet so that the syncing operation can be done. Here’s how to use the software http://goo.gl/c59lq. A big disadvantage is that the whole operation is seen as torrenting, so it could be blocked by certain internet providers or local firewalls. GoodSync (http://goo.gl/lnOpZ) GoodSync has innovative syncing algorithms that allow the program to sync files between computers, USB drives, FTP servers and different online data storage. The GoodSync Connect feature allows to directly connect two different computers in a peer to peer style, without using intermediates. This application has a lot of features and many settings that can be automated, such as syncing files between different computers based on a schedule. Other interesting things are that the transfer is is encrypted and that uploads and downloads can be resumed from any point. The free version has a limited amount of available features, but the Pro version has them all and it costs $29.95. On the local network Nowadays, it’s very common to have more than one computer in a home, so transferring files between them becomes essential. Sharing a folder is a simple process, but not everybody knows how to do it. That’s why, we’re going to show you how to properly share a folder on Windows: + Go to the desired folder and right click on it. This can be any video found on the local computer. + Choose “Share with…” and select to share it with “Specific People“. + Now using the drop-down arrow, choose a specific user or, everyone. Practically, the second choice permits access to shared files to everybody connected to the network. + Finally click on “Share” and wait until the process ends. + To access the newly shared folder from other places in the workgroup, just search your computer’s name in the Network section and the files will be at your disposal. Dropbox (http://goo.gl/CNKfF) Moving onto the cloud section, we begin with Dropbox, which is a famous cloud based service that lets users access digital files (photos, docs, videos) from anywhere on the planet. It’s a free-to-use service that also comes with synchronization capabilities. Another interesting feature of Dropbox is that it can sync even mobile phones. So, if you also want Dropbox on your phone, you can download it on Android or iOS. When it comes to other cloud services, installation steps remain pretty much the same: download the main application, move the files inside the newly created folder and then let the software sync automatically. Google Drive (http://goo.gl/JU6Fm) Google Drive is the search engine giant’s own cloud built on the former Docs service that offers free storage for all Gmail users. It comes with special applications for most desktop platforms (Windows, Mac, Chrome OS) and for some mobile platforms (Android and iOS). The most interesting feature of Drive allows simultaneous collaboration on a project, instant messaging between collaborators and a “time machine”, that permits the user to keep, view and revise multiple versions of the same file. Free accounts get 5 GB of cloud storage and even more, if you pay. Box (http://goo.gl/q7Pu1) Box is an online storage service that deserves proper consideration. It’s exclusively online and can be used for creating and editing documents directly in the browser. It has a desktop application which can be used only to sync files. All files contained by the sync folder will become accessible to every computer with the app installed. Synchronization can also be done directly from the web browser. Box is great when it comes to compatibility, having dedicated apps for Windows or Mac computers, and Android, Blackberry, iOS and Windows Phone. Space Monkey (http://goo.gl/Sv4lR) Yet another good alternative is Space Monkey, as the KickStarter project has already been properly founded. We’ve taken a look upon its concept two weeks ago, but to sum it up in a few words, it gives users 1TB of online storage space for free. Of course, the same syncing methods apply.

Cloning your hard drive from one drive to another drive is a great way to avoid catastrophic failure when you sense your HDD is about to go out. There are many disk cloning programs out there that can get the job done for you. I’ll touch on two free hard drive cloning apps and a commercial app that should meet your needs. Clonezilla (http://goo.gl/S9z1X) The first program is Clonezilla. This open source drive cloning solution is directly comparable to Norton Ghost and carries a lot of its features. If you’re using an NTFS or FAT file system, it should work just fine. This program works through what’s called a live CD, meaning you’ll need to let it burn its image on a CD and boot from the CD in order to initiate the cloning process. Once you’re in, it’s important to follow the instructions carefully to either create a restore image of the existing drive or directly clone your hard drive. The drive cloning process only works when the new drive / partition is of equal or greater size, so don’t expect to clone an 80GB hard drive with 40GB of data to a 60GB drive.
Miray HDClone 4 (http://goo.gl/89ok2) Next up is HDClone 4 Free Edition, a commercial product with a free version available for use by a home user on a single system. HDClone 4 is a very popular hard drive cloning solution. Though it doesn’t carry as many features as its commercial cousin, HDClone 4 Free Edition should be enough to migrate a direct copy over from one drive to another. Reviews indicate that the free version is a bit slow, so expect to leave it overnight if you have a lot of data to cover.
NovaBACKUP (http://goo.gl/wjWnu) If you’re willing to put some investment ($45 US) in to a comprehensive backup solution, NovaBACKUP is a strong contender in the hard drive cloning space.
NovaBACKUP has a strong feature set including a simple and advanced view, virus scanning options, the ability to back up to networked and cloud locations, live backups of files being used presently, and both incremental and differential backup options. Overall, if you’re just looking to do a one-time migration, the free solutions presented here should be a great place to start. Should you be looking for a long-term option that will keep your data safe should an unforeseeable failure occur in the future, it might be wise to go with a commercial product.

CCleaner is touted as one of the best (if not the best) system clean up tools around, though that doesn’t make it the only good option available in this genre. Previously, we have reviewed some exceptionally great CCleaner alternatives like PriVazer and Clean Temporary Files, both of which left us fairly impressed thanks to their top-notch performance. If you’re looking for even more alternate solutions, KCleaner is another similar Windows application that’s worth giving a try. The app is quite effective when it comes to cleaning junk files, and has the potential to even give CCleaner a run for its money. The application is able to detect and clean temporary files such as cache items related to internet browsers, VSO, adware, windows log files, application installation leftovers, and many more. KCleaner sports a decent, easily understandable UI. The application can be launched in two different modes. In the normal mode that opens by default, the application presents a minuscule console containing buttons labelled Analyze, Clean and Start. There’s also an Expert mode that you can switch to from the Options menu. In addition to the controls from the Normal mode, the Expert mode gives you information regarding items that need to be cleaned, for instance, item type, path and size. The procedure to perform a cleanup is fairly quick and easy. To get started, click Analyse to let KCleaner scan your computer and look for junk items that might be needlessly taking up your disk space. Once analyzed, mark the items that you want to remove, followed by clicking the Clean button under Manual mode. Another interesting bit I noticed is the Automatic mode, which allows performing the clean up process automatically after user-defined intervals in the settings window. We couldn’t find any such option in PrivaZer or Clean Temporary Files, so this gives KCleaner an edge over the aforementioned apps. To execute Automatic mode, simply click the Start / Stop button. Moving to the Settings window, you will notice that the application allows configuring a host of different options. For instance, you can enable auto startup with Windows, expert mode, minimize to tray and log deletions. The frequency of clean up under Automatic mode can also be specified in here. In addition, you can specify a few data security settings and deletion methods (standard, 1 pass random, 3 pas DoD), as well as select the application language. Lastly, you can select the type of items needed to be analyzed during the scan process. KCleaner works on Windows XP, WIndows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8. Both 32-bit and 64-bit OS editions are supported. KCleaner : http://goo.gl/SGIRA

Twitter still doesn’t have a very handy way for users to find one another, keep track of who follows whom, and organize their lists. We went searching for third-party tools that make these tasks easier. Manage Flitter (http://goo.gl/i1I1B) allows you bulk unfollow. It displays a list of users. You check those you no longer want to follow and hit “unfollow” once. The tool also allows you to search among your followers for fake users, users who never tweet or users who tweet so much they may be hiding other content. Iunfollow.com (http://goo.gl/uR2kR) displays lists of user names sorted by reciprocal and unreciprocal follows and allows you to click a button by each name to unfollow that user. Unfortunately, the tool doesn’t import the user bios; just a link to their profile on Twitter, so you end up having to click around a fair amount. Commun.IT (http://goo.gl/EX1Vu) offers a lot of features for a free tool: It will help you find people you may want to follow based on up to three keywords. It also suggests those you may want to unfollow, based on low influencer scores and low engagement with your content. It also surfaces tweets that may deserve a reply. All of these actions can be done within Commun.IT. One downside: The algorithms were not especially sharp in our test run. Twitilist (http://goo.gl/qO0xJ) provides a graphical bulk list editor interface. You can drag and drop users you follow into the various lists you’ve created. If money’s no object, there’s no shortage of third-party tools to help you manage your Twitter content and connections (http://goo.gl/g1UXO).
