Great to highlight where the fish are!

Helps the Pharma marketers develop integrated campaigns, possibly building linkedIn groups (not just spamming ads on HCP), linked to portals and why not even partner with third parties for content ("Innovations in Health" by Philips is a great example).

The EU in its 2020 strategy document indentified the Innovation Union as a core initiative to create the environment within Europe that will ensure innovative ideas can be turned into products and services that create growth and jobs. The need for such innovation is essential in health where significant challenges exist, especially in diseases of the elderly. At the same time huge advances in biomedical R&D offer tremendous opportunities. New business models and frameworks are required to bring stakeholders together and one such framework is open innovation (OI). Central to this concept of OI is the proactive management of intellectual property across a set of collaborators which enables both traditional and non-traditional stakeholders to work together to create new products and services.

The aim of INNOVATHEALTH is to define an OI strategy for health which will define the key enablers for the creation of an innovation ecosystem for healthcare within the EU. There are several key areas where such a strategy could have societal and economic impact including monitoring of wellness, early detection of disease, personalised medicine and monitoring of efficacy and compliance.

I think this is interesting.. and as we think about the whole integrated care delivery model, this data and information will play a critical part. Of those practices that Humana will own or be part of in a significant way, I believe we can make this happen. For those docs with small practices, we would need to find the right motivation to have them leverage this info. Do we offer it to them? such as ipads for usage during an office visit? we have to make it simple yet provide the best information so they could provide the best quality of care.
Scott Normandin's comment, May 16, 2014 10:24 PM
the question begs: is/are applications that make access to health care the domain of the younger generation, or as some would content, are applications an additional level of complication to our senior population. Personal experience from the lens of my parents is that "absent" a vetted and universally adopted application that supports a universal view for all, this may by perceived as the "new best new toy" and fade with time. Our seniors; albeit are digital immigrants, working their way into the development of new technologies clumsily, whereas Gen X/Y find the technology adaptable, available and importantly expendable when the next best thing comes available. What defines consumerization: speed of development and release, or the ability to support end users?
