The castle is situated near Cagli, in the Northern side of the Marches. This unique medieval fortification offers a 360 ° view over the entire valley of the Candigliano river. The complex consists of a main building, the castle, located on the highest part of the promontory, a second edifice, so-called forepart, which was built in later periods and the guesthouse or “Foresteria”, located lower down, below the castle.
The exterior of the castle has remained nearly intact over time and vaguely reminds the hull of a ship. Through an arched doorway you can access the outdoor enclosure, a large half-round structure that reaches up to the sheer rock cliff. A five-year restoration returned the entire structure to its former glory, whilst merging the architectural and historical heritage with innovative solutions made it a unique location for exclusive holidays.
Particularly impressive is the large semi-circular tower which rises at the rear of the building. In some of the first-floor rooms, you can admire eighteenth-century frescoes. [...]
