N.16 - Successful "Case History" of foreigners buying a property in Le Marche

N.16 - Successful "Case History" of foreigners buying a property in Le Marche | Le Marche Properties and Accommodation | Scoop.it

Jane and Ian come from New Zealand, they are a lovely couple and prior to being the welcoming owners of the Cantinone B&B where they live, they were both business analysts who met at work thirty years ago. They worked in banking and the transport industry and never had it crossed their minds to become hoteliers. Now they welcoming people into their home with enthusiasm and with a wonderful sense of possibility. They lived in London for twenty years, where they went about their day to day business, then suddenly decided it was time for a change and bought what at the time was a huge crumbling ruin, without ceilings or floors.
Before Le Marche, Ian and Jane had considered Tuscany and Umbria, where they were recommended to Le Marche with specific reasons that two business analysts could hardly ignore. But there was more of the simply reasons, Le Marche is convenient, isn’t spoilt by tourism, is the perfect place to open a business.
Jane felt instantly welcomed, and that after twenty years in London, they felt like they were back home in New Zealand. All around them were new hills waiting to be discovered, their gaze following the curves of the landscape, without interruption by the ugly, concrete buildings which have been allowed to spoil many towns. And then of course there were the people: Le Marche had the advantage of not being overcrowded, bringing them in closer contact with the locals who took time for a chat, were generous and friendly. There was no distance between people, just like in New Zealand. So Jane and Ian have had no trouble making friends.

N.5 - Successful "Case History" of foreigners buying a property in Le Marche

N.5 - Successful "Case History" of foreigners buying a property in Le Marche | Le Marche Properties and Accommodation | Scoop.it

by Ami Kealoha in Culture - www.coolhunting.com

Making the farm-to-table connection all the more real, Nudo's "adopt-an-olive-tree" program delivers their delicious certified organic olive oil to your door along with the pride of ownership that comes from calling one of their trees yours. In addition to four 500mL tins of the tree's first cold press extra virgin oil in mid-April and three half-size tins of infused (lemon, chile and orange) oil in the fall, adopters also receive a personalized certificate, information about their tree and an open invite to "visit, hug or water the tree in person."
The clever idea comes from two former British television producers, Jason Gibb and Cathy Rogers who moved to the La Marche region of Italy in 2005 seeking a different lifestyle. From their initial 20 acres, the duo's enterprise now includes thousands of trees and nine small artisinal producers in the region, a strategy that not only helps keep up with demand but sustains smaller farms. It also means that, while most commercial olive oils use blends of questionable origin (read more here), Nudo oil comes from 100% Italian, hand-picked olives that go straight from the grove to pressing.
Nudo's high standards for quality make for an addictively tasty product.
The tin itself (made from recycled materials as a more eco-chic alternative to glass bottles) is just one part of the brand's commitment to the environment, which includes a portion of the estate set aside as forest to offset their carbon footprint and their organic farming practices.
Nudo is bridging the gap between consumers and their food. With a global community of adoptive tree "parents" as well as a localized community of collaborative growers, the Nudo family goes far beyond their fields and presses. It's a close community as well, with owners traveling to visit their trees and help with the harvest. The farm-to-table connection results in an olive oil that bears the innovative personality of those involved.
