Black is back for men this summer - FT.com

Black is back for men this summer - FT.com | Le Marche & Fashion | Scoop.it

Florals are in full bloom on the racks of menswear departments but, for many gents, the black jacket remains the year-round wardrobe cornerstone. There’s no reason to sweat it, though: some of the world’s most directional designers – celebrated for [...]

Mariano Pallottini's insight:

Mark Quinn, of fashion-forward London boutique Hostem, says: “The big brands like Zegna, Attolini, Tombolini, Boglioli and Slowear are creating new and incredibly light fabrics, while the artisanal brands we stock are producing investment pieces that are without seasonal flourishes.
A marginally more conservative approach to black summer dressing, and an example of the developments in the Italian market that Quinn acknowledges, can be found in RVR Lardini’s reversible cotton piqué jacket (£460). “They are the masters of the barely-there jacket,” says Mei Chung, menswear buyer for Browns. “And it offers two looks in one: a smart blazer in soft cotton and a super-light poplin nylon field jacket.”

Tombolini: Eight tips to being the best-dressed man around

Tombolini: Eight tips to being the best-dressed man around | Le Marche & Fashion | Scoop.it

You don’t need to be a menswear expert well-versed in the terminology and minutiae to put together a basic, good-looking outfit.
Check it. EIGHT TIPS TO BEING THE BEST DRESSED GUY YOU KNOW

Mariano Pallottini's insight:

Here my favourite highlights of this article:

Master fit and proportion You could be decked out in the finest italian suit, but if you’re wearing the wrong size, you’re going to look terrible. Conversely, you could buy an ultra affordable suit, take it to a tailor, and look like a million bucks

Understand your skin tone and choose colors that complement

Know what your “thing” is - Every person has his or her thing. Some people enjoy color, others like wearing gray chinos practically every day. Maybe some people out there prefer only brogues

Understand how to accessorize - Socks, ties, pocket squares, belts, and sometimes shoe laces, jewelry, and leather goods (like wallets).

When it comes to staples, buy the best quality you can afford - you’ll start to realize what you wear most, and what’s worth investing in.

5 Garments Every Guy Should Own - Tombolini Montreal

5 Garments Every Guy Should Own - Tombolini Montreal | Le Marche & Fashion | Scoop.it

Most men are not aware of just how much personal image matters. I’ve seen guys get dozens of girls simply because they had some guts but they would always wear amazing clothes. And they weren’t the smartest men I’ve ever met.

Mariano Pallottini's insight:

Ok, so far we talked about 4 of the 5 fashion items that any man should have in his wardrobe: shirts, chinos, sports jackets and pocket squares.

Since the limit is 5, I won’t talk about ties, scarves, belts or down vests. These are all fantastic but right now I want to focus on shoes. And not just any shoes; the black leather brogues.
