Corinaldo, Le Marche: Where to Celebrate Halloween in Italy

Corinaldo, Le Marche: Where to Celebrate Halloween in Italy | Le Marche another Italy | Scoop.it

Now in its 19th edition, Corinaldo’s Halloween event (Festa delle Streghe) is also a big draw. This year, it takes place October 28-31, when the small town in Le Marche transforms into an open-air Halloween-themed park. The 2016 edition begins with the election of Miss Strega (Miss Witch), where everybody, no matter the age, nationality or sex, can participate. Halloween-themed sets will lit every corner of the village, which is enclosed by well-preserved 14th-century walls. Witches, skeletons and monsters, a haunted house, a “tilted room”, will all contribute to make the night as spookily fun as possible. There will also be music and dance performances. [...]

Mariano Pallottini's insight:

Apparently Corinaldo is the capital of Halloween in all of Italy and La Festa delle Steghe (The Festival of Witches) is celebrated all over town. Corinaldo is in the province of Ancona, in the Marche region

Corinaldo | Italy, A Never-ending Journey of Discovery | Le Marche another Italy | Scoop.it

I recently met the representatives from three towns who are participants in the EU sponsored Eden Project, European Destinations of Excellence. These towns are not on the well trodden Italian tourist routes but what you will find in them are attractions and traditions which are unique and interesting.

Here is a summary of what you can expect in each destination.

Corinaldo
Corinaldo in the Le Marche region it is a medieval town in the hills and is noted for its well-preserved 14th-century walls, it is possible to walk around these kilometre long fortifications.
The town is the birthplace of St Maria Goretti, stabbed to death at the age of 11 in a sexual attack in 1902, she was canonised in 1950 and is the patron saint of rape victims. Her house has been preserved as a monument.
Located on the 109 ascending steps that run through the town is a well. It was the water from this together with smuggled maize flour that saved the towns people when the town was besiege [...]

Are you planning to change your life by living better with less? Then head to Italy as from Lombardy to Sicily here is where you should head to if you want to follow in the downshifting trend.

Downshifting is a social trend in which individuals live simpler lives to escape from the rat race of obsessive materialism and to reduce the stress that comes with it. It is about finding an improved balance between leisure and work and focusing life goals on personal fulfillment and relationship building instead of the all-consuming pursuit of economic success. And why not trying to do this in one of the most beautiful Countries on Earth, Italy? This list is meant to be as an inspiration for a life-change for whoever is seeking beauty, great food, relax and a comfortable life that doesn’t require too many expenses.

Veneto, Torcello

Lombardy, Monte Isola

Liguria, Framura

Mondavio & Corinaldo – Unspoilt Renaissance Villages in the Heart of le Marche

Mondavio & Corinaldo – Unspoilt Renaissance Villages in the Heart of le Marche | Le Marche another Italy | Scoop.it

Mondavio
Visit Mondavio and discover one of the loveliest places in Italy. From Ancona enjoy a drive that winds up hill after hill as you move inland. Mondavio is very impressive as you get nearer. The castle and the three bell towers, all within the perfectly preserved town walls, dominate the surrounding countryside
It's worth spending, at the very least, a full day in the town. A morning spent wondering the lovely little streets and soaking up the atmosphere can be followed by an afternoon visiting the perfectly preserved castle and its museum.
The medieval castle was the work of the Tuscan architect Francesco Giorgio di Martini and is apparently revolutionary in its design; with a five storey main tower, in the shape of an octagon, dominating the castle.

Corinaldo
A thousand years of history comes alive within the ancient medieval walls of this delightful gem of a village. The town is surrounded by rolling hills and the sense of timeless peace is unbeatable.
If you really want to get away from it all and see how the other half live (simply but well) Corinaldo is a very good place to do it. This is the sort of town that truly enchants.

Halloween Party in Le Marche, Italy 2014

Halloween Party in Le Marche, Italy 2014 | Le Marche another Italy | Scoop.it

Apparently Corinaldo is the capital of Halloween in all of Italy and La Festa delle Steghe (The Festival of Witches) is celebrated all over town. Corinaldo is in the province of Ancona, in the Marche region that is located east-central. It is a medieval walled city that is set on a hill, posing as both the perfect romantic get away as well as, who’d have thought it, Italy’s capital of Halloween. During the last week of October, the town transforms into a paradise for Halloween lovers, culminating on Halloween night with a huge party, live music, bonfires and special light displays that shine all over the town. This one starts of family friendly but then, once the drink gets flowing, anything could happen. More info.
