Nature in Le Marche outside the Parks

Nature in Le Marche outside the Parks | Le Marche another Italy | Scoop.it

In Le Marches are possible excursions around the corner. Just take the bed of a stream in a narrow non cementified valley, to gain silence, peace, nature and treks in steepy hills to respect.

It will surprise a luxuriant flora but also the fauna will impress you, although we are not completely in the wild. The nature in the Marche region in recent years has exploded in a positive way. The elimination of about thousand different "pestiferous pesticides" for agricultural use, the abandonment of the cultivation of much agricultural founds, the decrease in hunting pressure, the economic crisis that has shut down also polluting industries have favored the natural restocking of creatures of each type.

Occasionally on secondary roads is not uncommon to cross in a greater or lesser bloody: porcupines, badgers, lizards, hares, black squirrels , ferrets, deer, wild boars, grass snakes, Woodpeckers, Herons and catch a glimpse of each species of prey, escape frightened.

Not so lucky the fish species. The hydro-geological disasters in the Marche region have imposed insane regimentation in a straight line of the rivers with the reduction, of the pools of reproduction. To this is added the huge withdrawal near the springs of precious water for domestic use and irrigation. Not the trouts, but to be damaged are those fish considered less valuable such as cyprinids among them especially, chub and barbel.

Ancona, Italy — It was the first day of the Adria Ferries ORCi World Championship, things looked extremely promising: partly sunny skies, 14-17 knots of wind from the northwest, just enough to speckle whitecaps on the beautiful azure seas of the Adriatic. Race managers were excited about the day, planning to hold two out of the seven inshore races they intend for the week. [...]

The plan is simple: to bridge the stretch of Adriatic Sea for a summer holiday in two countries in the space of a week. It would start with a road trip through Italy's Abruzzo and Le Marche before sailing across that ink-blue gap of sea and into Croatia.[...]

As Marche's major centre, Ascoli buzzes with life - from the morning fruit market beneath the St Francis Church cloisters to the locals who mingle in the main square, Piazza del Popolo. Called the "city of travertine", most of its buildings are made from a handsome, ivory-hued limestone, extracted from the surrounding mountains.[...]

In the early decades of the twentieth century, in Montegranaro, a little city in the Marche region, immediately after the First World War, Adelio Franceschetti (1893-1957), grandfather of the current owners of the Calzaturificio Franceschetti, started men’s shoes production, completely handmade in the workshop downstairs.
His two sons, Annibale and Ugo, soon joined him in the shop and at the end of World War II Adelio established, with their support, the company “Calzaturificio Adelio” of Franceschetti Brothers.
Annibale and Ugo carried on the production of shoes after the death of their father in 1957, changed location several times for their laboratory, until 1965, when it was inaugurated what today is the base of the Calzaturificio Franceschetti.
In 1983, with the transition to the third generation, the current company was established under the name of Calzaturificio “Franceschetti Srl. The company’s partners are the three children of Annibale.
Today some of Annibale’s grandchildren work at the company. This is the fourth generation.

The horse racing event comprises the ‘sport’ part of the Marche Endurance Lifestyle. Sport has an amazing ability to bring people together and the Marche Endurance Lifestyle 2013 does the same. The mega event is all set to take place this year in Italy in a tried and trusted format that shows how sport, business, international meetings and regional promotion can focus the spotlight on two countries, the UAE and Italy.

Last year His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai (the winner of last edition), his sons Shaikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai (who will attend the event this year and who was placed second last year) and Shaikh Majid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (who was placed third), took part at the event.

“The ‘sport’ part of Marche Endurance Lifestyle will consist of the Conero Endurance Cup, scheduled for Saturday, June 15, which will see riders from all over the world challenge each other on a course drawn up entirely within the Conero Regional Park,” says Gianluca Laliscia, the owner of sistemaeventi.it in Italy, and the organiser of Endurance Lifestyle for several years. The Hidden Theatres of the Marche

The Hidden Theatres of the Marche | Le Marche another Italy | Scoop.it

[...] Ian Arnott, a retired architect, has penned his first book, 'The Hidden Theatres of the Marche' - the story of how a tiny, isolated area of Italy came to have one of the biggest concentrations of theatres anywhere in the world.
Ian had initially been asked to research the subject by the Royal Scottish Academy, but it turned into something much more.
He told the Courier: "It started in 2006 and it was a music holiday that we took to the Marche.
"It was half a dozen private concerts and recitals and it was set in some of these restored theatres that I'd never heard of. As far as I could gather, nobody else had either. Nobody really knew where the Marche was.
"It's a very little-known area, even to Italians, and they don't go there because it's the wrong side of the Apennine Mountains. It's tiny - it's only 100 miles by 50.
"I got interested in the buildings and then I discovered that these half dozen were only the tip of the iceberg. It had more theatres than any other area of Italy in terms of concentration.
"I just became curious as to why this came about. It was never a terribly poor area but it was certainly never one of the prosperous areas of Italy. Why did they want so many theatres and how did they procure them? How can they afford them?
"The book, I think, sets out to provide some answers to these questions. And of course, focuses on the buildings themselves: many of them were so beautiful. As an architect, they interested me.
"The book looks at the region and tries to analyse the effect of these theatres on their population, and on their towns and villages."
Ian returned to the Marche, where he spent about two and a half weeks researching for the book [...]

Tod's shoes turns from Italy to beat crisis

Tod's shoes turns from Italy to beat crisis | Le Marche another Italy | Scoop.it

Custom-made shoe moulds hanging in a sun-filled workshop are the secret behind the success of luxury Italian shoemaker Tod's, which is flourishing despite a recession-hit economy.
Harrison Ford, Princess Caroline of Monaco and Brad Pitt -- as well as countless of the newly rich in places like Brazil and China -- are among the wealthy foreign clients that are boosting sales.
The craftsmanship and management may still be homegrown but the company -- like many in the Italian luxury sector -- has been forced to give up on its domestic market, at least for now.
Sales in Italy last year fell by 26.7 percent last year and went up by 55 percent in China.
Tod's managed to ring in a net profit of 145.5 million euros ($188.6 million) last year -- a 7.4-percent increase on 2011 -- despite the context of austerity and recession at home, where the economy has now been shrinking for two years.

Sales were 963.1 million euros in 2012. [...]

Le Marche, Italy - Authentic Luxury Travel | Le Marche another Italy | Scoop.it

The first time I went to Italy, I wanted to see the popular cities, but I also wanted to settle in to one of the country’s lesser known places. One by one, I looked at various areas. The fact that I couldn’t find much information online about Le Marche, confirmed my sense that this was the place to go. The long, narrow region stretches down along the Adriatic Sea from not far south of Venice to a spot roughly parallel with Rome. Its western edge is the ridge of the Apennines, the mountain spine that runs the length of the Italian boot.
In the week my husband and I spent exploring Le Marche in our rental car from the north to the south, we never saw a tour bus. We never saw a t-shirt shop. What we did see were so many hill-top medieval and Renaissance fortified villages and castles that we felt deprived when we saw a hilltop that grew trees instead of stone walls and turrets. [...]
