There are about 150 wild wolves in Le Marche

There are about 150 wild wolves in Le Marche | Le Marche another Italy | Scoop.it

The Marche Region has commissioned a study monitoring the wolf in Le Marche region in the period 2010-2012. Just these days the dossier was presented. The investigation is part of a comprehensive program carried out by several institutions.

The good news: the wolves' population continues to grow.

In Le Marche it has estimated a population between 137 and 155 animals. The DNA analyzed, collected into three main areas (north, center, south) describes about six main packs of wolves. Beautiful animals in good health... and we can start thinking about guided tours for their observation and listening.

Any thought about developing tours to safely look at the wolves in their natural habitat. I know a lot of people in the US who would be willing to travel for such a unique experience.

"I Forzati della strada" (The Convicts of the Road) vintage ride event will be held on July 28th in Montelparo, the beautiful village overlooking the hills of the province of Fermo in the Marche region.
The name "I Forzati della Strada" originates from French journalist Albert Londres.
The event is part of the Giro d’Italia d’Epoca and offers participants the opportunity to choose between two routes of 40 km and 80 km, all in the open countryside and half on dirt roads. The group will be escorted by vintage cars and motorcycles, just to recreate the atmosphere cycling that is usually seen in faded black and white movies. Along the route way there will be a number of dining surprises of food and wine.
To give an oportunity to those that do not have a vintage bicycle, road bikes (no mountain bikes permitted) of any vintage will be allowed but cycling kits prior to 1985 will be required.

Montelparo: Le Marche off the beaten path

Montelparo: Le Marche off the beaten path | Le Marche another Italy | Scoop.it

"All of Italy in one region’’ is a very common description of Le Marche. This as yet barely known and hence unspoilt part of Italy is a veritable treasure chest of surprises. The countryside rolls from the majestic Gran Sasso and Sibilline mountains through wonderfully green and fertile hills and valleys to a superb coastline of Blue Flag standard sandy beaches. Montelparo is midway between these mountains and the coast which makes it a perfect location to visit the whole region. It is typical of the many hilltop towns; houses built of the beautiful honey coloured bricks and stones tumble down the hillside. The historic centre with its quaint cobbled streets is enticing with many of its buildings dating back to the 13th century. The town has one of only two museums in Italy dedicated to a unique collection of antique bicycles, carts, hand carts and trolleys used by local craftsmen and women
