Italian Summer Jamboree 50s Festival

Italian Summer Jamboree 50s Festival | Le Marche another Italy | Scoop.it

Senigallia is the port city that will host the annual Italian summer Jamboree 50s festival. The city is located in the Adriatic Riviera of the country and is famous for its history, beautiful marine landscapes and much more. This is also a preferred holiday destination for many families from all over the world. It is because Senigallia is a quiet, clean and exceptionally Italian town with a lot to give back to its visitors.
Unlike usual, though, between 3rd and 11th August 2013 the town will be transformed by the noisiest and biggest music festival on the Adriatic as the Summer Jamboree 50s fest will once again take over the port and turn it into the most exciting August party place in Europe. Music from the 40s and 50s of the past century will be played and performed live on stage. Duane Eddy, California’s The Paladins and Ray Gelato & the Giants are just some of the headliners of the event. [...]

In a perfect world, we wouldn't need to explain why Italy's beaches and islands are worth visiting.

  • Cretaccio Island
  • Isola Bella Beach
  • Asinara Island
  • Chiaia di Luna Beach
  • Palmarola Island
  • Lampedusa Island
  • Ventotene Island
  • Mondello Beach

Numana Beach - Mountain trails make this one beach destination you won't want to laze about on. Inside the Mount Conero Park on the Adriatic coast, Numana Beach lies at the base of a high, rugged cliff.

It's silent, peaceful and breezy and surrounded by lush vegetation: no wonder hermits used to come here in the Middle Ages to meditate.
To get here, take highway A14, exit at Ancona -- the area is also connected by plane from Rome and Milan.

Tod's shoes turns from Italy to beat crisis

Tod's shoes turns from Italy to beat crisis | Le Marche another Italy | Scoop.it

Custom-made shoe moulds hanging in a sun-filled workshop are the secret behind the success of luxury Italian shoemaker Tod's, which is flourishing despite a recession-hit economy.
Harrison Ford, Princess Caroline of Monaco and Brad Pitt -- as well as countless of the newly rich in places like Brazil and China -- are among the wealthy foreign clients that are boosting sales.
The craftsmanship and management may still be homegrown but the company -- like many in the Italian luxury sector -- has been forced to give up on its domestic market, at least for now.
Sales in Italy last year fell by 26.7 percent last year and went up by 55 percent in China.
Tod's managed to ring in a net profit of 145.5 million euros ($188.6 million) last year -- a 7.4-percent increase on 2011 -- despite the context of austerity and recession at home, where the economy has now been shrinking for two years.

Sales were 963.1 million euros in 2012. [...]

Le Marche, Italy - Authentic Luxury Travel | Le Marche another Italy | Scoop.it

The first time I went to Italy, I wanted to see the popular cities, but I also wanted to settle in to one of the country’s lesser known places. One by one, I looked at various areas. The fact that I couldn’t find much information online about Le Marche, confirmed my sense that this was the place to go. The long, narrow region stretches down along the Adriatic Sea from not far south of Venice to a spot roughly parallel with Rome. Its western edge is the ridge of the Apennines, the mountain spine that runs the length of the Italian boot.
In the week my husband and I spent exploring Le Marche in our rental car from the north to the south, we never saw a tour bus. We never saw a t-shirt shop. What we did see were so many hill-top medieval and Renaissance fortified villages and castles that we felt deprived when we saw a hilltop that grew trees instead of stone walls and turrets. [...]

There will be a historical parade with the "Offerta dei Ceri" (ceri = big candles) to the patron saint.

The Palio dei Castelli is a combination of several historical medieval games such as tug-of-war, race of the Towers, archery, ability games, etc.

The big event is represented by the race where teams will carry huge models of tower of castles representing their villages (Rocchetta, Colleluce, Serralta, Taccoli and Cesolo) and “Rioni” (town quarters: Settempeda, Castello, di Contro).

Le Marche Breweries and Apecchio, the Craft Beer Town

Le Marche Breweries and Apecchio, the Craft Beer Town | Le Marche another Italy | Scoop.it
Mariano Pallottini's insight:

Le Marche Region in Italy has seen the birth of many small breweries thanks to a unique social project: the Malt Producers consortium CO.BI. (Consorzio Marchigiano Produttori dell’Orzo e della Birra). The role of the consortium is essential for the Breweries chain to malt the cereals of the members to enable them to produce beer under an agricultural regime.  Le Marche is always working to find alternatives for agricultural production and after have been committed for years to overcome the difficulties that farms find to produce beer based on its raw material (barley, wheat, barley, etc.) now see the future in positive way with a growing market. With 17 quality artisan breweries, Le Marche is candidate to become leader in Italy and Apecchio the Italian Capital of Craft Beers.

His two sons, Annibale and Ugo, soon joined him in the shop and at the end of World War II Adelio established, with their support, the company “Calzaturificio Adelio” of Franceschetti Brothers.
Annibale and Ugo carried on the production of shoes after the death of their father in 1957, changed location several times for their laboratory, until 1965, when it was inaugurated what today is the base of the Calzaturificio Franceschetti.
In 1983, with the transition to the third generation, the current company was established under the name of Calzaturificio “Franceschetti Srl. The company’s partners are the three children of Annibale.

Tolentino, Marche, Italy, The cycle of frescoes in the Saint Nicholas' Chapel

The fresco of Saint Nicholas from Tolentino
The Romanic church of Saint Nicholas from Tolentino (XIII century) preserves some frescoes of high value in its interior: a cycle of frescoes from the Riminian school of Giotto. This cycle represents the life of Saint Nicholas with a style and shape similar to Giotto's fresco of Saint Francesco from Assisi. As you leave the cappellone, it is pleasant to go through the ancient doorway, which leads to the cloister where you can find some frescoes along the way.
The cycle of frescoes in the Chapel of Saint Nicholas from Tolentino in the town of Tolentino, where the life of Saint Nicholas from Tolentino is narrated, reveals the presence of a Giottesque master of great technique and figurative abilities, alike to no one else in this zone of the Marches: the so-called Master of Tolentino (or Master of the Chapel of Saint Nicholas)...
