ANIMA is the cultural centre in Grottammare (Ascoli Piceno, Italy), commissioned by the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Ascoli Piceno, that proposed and managed the entire process, and received by the Municipality of Grottammare. French-Swiss architect Bernard Tschumi is in charge of its design.
-This work starts from an observation on the theoretical inputs that guided Bernard Tschumi in conceiving the project. This video introduces the volumetric interplay, the system of courtyards, the revelation of the main room, the research on the theme of façades; the narration is punctuated with some statements that characterize Bernard Tschumi’s design conception.
Located in the coastal city of Grottammare, ANIMA (arts, nature, ideas, music, action) will be Bernard Tschumi’s first project in italy. The cultural center aims to offer the Piceno Province in the Region Marche, along the adriatic sea, a public place for collecting and cultivating a wide range of artistic, creative, and productive endeavors. The 10,000 sqm facility will house a mixture of programs accommodating events, exhibitions, and workshops, with a layout organized around a spacious central atrium. [...]
Yvonne and Giancarlo create theirpieces with a primitive technique, the Columbine, salamis of clay arranged and stacked to create various forms. Each piece is unique and irregular. Sometimes objects are white, sometimes decorated. The decoration, is applied with primitive techniques. The laboratory is located in Grottammare Alta (the old town), a medieval town on a hill facing the sea.
Looking at the Adriatic sea through a window, they felt that it was the right place for a laboratory.
Among the many pontiffs who held in their hands the fate of Rome, Sixtus V (1585-90) is indeed one of the most special and controversial ones. During his pontificate, which lasted only five years, he altered the city's arrangement according to the Renaissance standards, changing its look more than any other ruler or administrator had ever dared to do before him, even during a much longer reign.
