At the British Academy Cymru Awards at the Wales Millennium Centre on Sunday 29 September, The Machine won the Special Achievement for Film along with Best Costume Design – and the Libidex outfit was amongst the star features.
The outfit is worn in the film by Caity Lotz, who plays a robotic machine with features and figure barely distinguishable from humans, and with an artificial intelligence that far exceeds mankind. She is created in an almost Frankensteineque fashion by a scientist (Toby Stephens) deep in a subterranean bunker and emerges clad from head to toe in Libidex latex!
An impressively slick and intense British sci-fi film, writer/director Caradog James’s The Machine may sport a rather bland title but is a stylish fantasy thriller, blending the Frankenstein story with Blade Runner and coming up with a beautifully shot futuristic tale brimming with memorable moments.
The film, which closed the UK’s Raindance Film Festival and is set to open in the UK in March 2014, should attract distributor given its sleek and often sexy core of a female super solider (aka the Machine) whose underlying compassion and humanity sets her/it against its cruel creators. Its strong genre credentials should appeal to niche distributors and genre festival exposure will be guaranteed.

"Fly with me, my Black Swan!" is the title of Edyta Zaborowskas new novel published in July 2013.
In this autobiographical novel, the German-Polish author describes, in a balanced mix of tangible eroticism, romance, humour and tension, the twelve months of her life from 2007 to 2008 when she discovered the world of BDSM and latex.
In 2007 her boyfriend had a kind of "coming out" and confessed his love of BDSM, fetish, domination and latex lingerie. Obviously, he had carried his secrets with him and didn´t dare to tell her about it. But the inclusion of these elements into the sex life was unthinkable for the German-Polish woman, strict catholic education and past had left too many marks on her, BDSM and sexual fetishism were totally new and she did not get anything out of it. He didn´t let up and one day Edyta took the plunge and jumped into the frigid water.
That experience turned her life around and it started an avalanche that could not be stopped. She encountered the sexual power play with domination and submission. The latex lingerie became the essential accessory for the dominance, which she began to live out more and more. But this change even had an effect on her private and professional life: The time as a conservative and plain office clerk was suddenly gone, appearance and presence became confident and elegant, and she was propelled to a career in the management of the company. Also, she was able to come to terms with the past, because some frustrating experiences still haunted her. Only now she had the power and self-confidence to get these infuriating thoughts out of the way.
"Finally I can say that I not only wanted to write about my experiences. I also want to give other women the courage to overstep one's boundaries, marked out by upbringing, marriage, experiences or home. Women do not have to be a dominatrix immediately, but I think that in every woman is living a Black Swan who wants to be woken up!"
We can only hope that one day Miss Fetish Europe will take a larger stage in a larger venue with the whole world watching.
For the time being, the Dominatrix Event takes place once a year (Since 2010) in a converted country club on the outskirts of Amsterdam. Where else right?! A select few models prance their bondage covered toosh’s around, showcasing the work of fetish wear designers who all attend the event with a proud tear in their eye.
About a month ago I was interviewed by Crazy Heart, who host The People Of Kink – a kinky Canadian podcast dedicated to showcase the people of the BDSM lifestyle. We had a good talk about what it means to be a latex fetishist.
