While the sky didn’t fall, one thing is clear; mobile search is here to stay. Now, with Google announcing that it would be updating mobile search results as of May, here’s how to plan for mobile search without getting caught in the hype.

What does that mean for brands and marketers? That digital marketing is now more important than it has ever been before.

According to Mirela Nemtanu, the company’s manager for corporate communication and public affairs in Romania, “The digital plays a major role: in the cosmetic and beauty area, the percentage of those who search online before buying is 70%. That means that social media is a must.”...

Google: Why don't you just tell me you're not a robot? | Social Media, SEO and All Things Internet Marketing | Scoop.it
Google revealed a new, simplified Captcha on Wednesday, one that reduces the process to merely clicking a box that says, "I am not a robot."

Via Bonnie Burns
Adlava's insight:

Good news for those who have a hard time ready that tiny Captcha text! Google claims it can tell whether you're a real person or not based on your mouse movements before you click.

Bonnie Burns's curator insight, December 3, 2014 12:45 PM

It sounds great, but what's to stop bots from clicking that box, too? Plenty, according to Vinay Shet, Google's manager of reCaptcha, who explains in a blog post that the new engine behind the tool looks at user behavior before, during and after clicking the box. Presumably, patterns in mouse-pointer movement and even the act of clicking itself can reveal whether the user is human or machine.

5 Digital Marketing trends for 2015

I enjoyed this article because It predicts what some of the trends for the upcoming year will be. I can, as a marketer, sense that some of these will be true, and look forward to what the future holds. For example, the article discussed how mobile payments will go mainstream.

Mobile payments such as the use of Apple Pay, will be considered the next innovative way to handle finances. Essentially this is creating a payment environment that is extremely efficient and effective. The use of mobile payment will pave the way for the future. Another important takeaway from this article was social media advertising. I found this to be extremely relevant to class because the course itself is dealing with social media marketing. Twitter and Linkedin are making use of advertising as discussed throughout the article. "Other social media are now being a lot more aggressive in appealing to advertisers, namely Twitter and Linkedin which have both developed more sophisticated advertising tools allowing savvy targeting and intricate performance measurement."

The use of smart watches I believe will not be as effective as the article discusses because I don't see a high demand for them. The last but one of the most important takeaways from this article is the accessibility of analytics readily available to consumers. The article discusses how Google Analytics allows for companies to track social media, and many other logistics to their pages. This article was very intuitive and related to our course.

Fabio Paschini's curator insight, November 16, 2014 5:25 AM
Concordo... "While I remain skeptical about the “internet of things” and wearable technologies in general – how are those Google Glasses coming along, anyway? I do believe 2015 may sound the beginning of a new era with smart watches, here again following in the footsteps of Apple’s new watch, due to hit markets in January."
