Where To Find Good Alternative Sources for Content Curation

Where To Find Good Alternative Sources for Content Curation | lärresurser | Scoop.it

Robin Good: If you are looking for ways to expand your horizon of content sources that you can use to find valuable content for your curated news channel, Pawan Deshpande, founder and CEO of Curata, has done an excellent job of listing and describing the many alternatives available to you.

While many beginner curators rely on their set of RSS feeds and on simple web searches to find new and interesting stuff on their topic of interest, there are a dozen more content source types that can be tapped to find relevant stuff. This article helps you start learning where to look to find them.

Useful. Resourceful. 8/10

Looking for Content Curation Tools? Here's Where To Start: The Official Content Curation Tools Universe Map

Looking for Content Curation Tools? Here's Where To Start: The Official Content Curation Tools Universe Map | lärresurser | Scoop.it

Robin Good: Everytime I see a new post or article claiming to list the best content curation tools I know I am in for some disappointment.

Most of these lists just pick up names from other lists without even bothering to check, test or verify what these tools actually do, whether they are still available. Unfortunately the rush to put out "curated" list of tools and services has created more misinformation than useful lists.

But if you, like me, are on the lookout for new and effective tools to curate your own content or the one of your customers, I have created a comprehensive map of all the curation tools available online and I keep it fresh and updated almost on a daily basis.

The map presently lists over 250 content curation tools which you can navigate much more easily than it was possible on my earlier versions of this map.

On the right side of the map you will find all of the news and content curation tools available online today. On the left side, you can find bookmarking, link lists builders, clippers and lots of tools to operate with RSS feeds (which are still at the heart of a curator's job).

7 ways to become a masterful storyteller

7 ways to become a masterful storyteller | lärresurser | Scoop.it
Corporate communicators, think of yourself as storytellers if you want people to remember your brand, products or executives.

"If you want to control a message, you need to tell a story. If you want to create change, you must tell a story."

That was the message that Justina Chen, an author of books for young adults and formerly executive communications manager at Microsoft, had for an audience of communicators at Ragan's Role of Communications in Creating Best Places to Work conference at SAS headquarters. Rather than labeling yourselves communicators, she told them, think of yourselves as storytellers.

Why is storytelling so important? Citing research from John Medina's "Brain Rules," Chen said stories that evoke strong emotions help people transfer information from short-term memory to long-term memory. People tune out to speeches every eight minutes or so; stories pull them back in.

Chen detailed ways communicators can become better storytellers themselves, and can turn their managers and executives into better storytellers, too. Here are seven of the biggest transformation tips:

How 5 Top Fashion Facebook Pages Market on Facebook | Jeffbullas's Blog | lärresurser | Scoop.it

Shopping is a form of entertainment for some and something to be more avoided than herpes for others.

Shopping brings some to tears, for the retail and fashion obsessed it is a joyous synergy and celebration of capitalism, consumerism and style.
Waiting for new designs to be launched at the favourite fashion store are waited upon by fashionistas with expectant excitement, like children waiting for Santa and his sleigh.

Sharing your shopping experiences was usually reserved to a chat over the phone with your girlfriends or while having a coffee or a quick liquid lunch.

Shopping has been social for a long time but now we have social networks that can enhance and accelerate that joy by being able to share in an instant with 200 friends at once on Facebook, rather having to wait for the weekend....

What I like most about these tools is that they allow us to communicate and collaborate through our smart mobile devices without having to log in to the LMS. We are essentially "plugged in" 24/7.

How do you know if your blog is making an impact?

How do you know if your blog is making an impact? | lärresurser | Scoop.it

"Working so hard to make your blog great can be depressing without feedback. And that's difficult to come by!"

Mark Schaeffer touches a very interesting point of social media in general and blogging in particular.

Why the heck am I doing that?

This is the question you will sooner or later ask yourself if you started a blog or a social media publishing activity. If you've followed us for a while, you know this is one of the frustration we had that pushed us to create Scoop.it. And also the more important question of how do you make an impact?

One of the answers we found is in developing the interest graph. Some people have the ability to impact many. That's rare. And most of us don't. But all of us have the ability to impact other people that share their interest. By looking at the complexity of the social web through the prism of interests, we come out with a totally different possible way to organize the web, define influence and being impactful.

Think about it this way: in what you do everyday, is it more important to influence a million random strangers or the tens or hundreds of people who care deeply about the same topic that you do?
