Teachers Embrace Digital Learning Strategies | MindShift

Teachers Embrace Digital Learning Strategies | MindShift | lärresurser | Scoop.it

Today is the second annual Digital Learning Day, designated to bring attention to the benefits of technology for learning. As part of the effort, PBS LearningMedia has released a survey showing that 74 percent of teachers say educational technology benefits their classroom in many ways, including the ability to reinforce and expand content, motivate students, and respond to a variety of learning styles. Given these numbers, and despite increasing access, it’s not surprising that 68 percent of teachers still want more access to technology in the classroom. That number goes up to 75 percent of teachers in low-income schools.   Read more in this Mindshift article, with infographic on digital learning.

Technology has definitely played a huge part in our schools, and I am always thankful for a task that makes our students' lives easier, and more beneficial to their critical thinking.

Educational Technology Buzzwords

Educational Technology Buzzwords | lärresurser | Scoop.it

Education buzzwords have for a long time driven me insane as we spend our lives in schools latching on to phrase after phrase that tries to make us sound more knowledgeable without actually being more knowledgeable. I fear sometimes us “tech geeks” in schools ( definitely me included) are getting caught in the same trap as we move from one innovation to the next just to look more tech savvy than the next guy. This is a long list of edtech trends and pedagogies. It can seem quite daunting to the uninitiated and we can scare them off trying something really useful if keep pushing for more change.
