"...The problem is they are trying to meet the future by doing what they did in the past. And on the way they are alienating millions of kids who don't see any purpose in going to school. When we went to school we were kept there with the story, which is if you worked hard and did well and got a college degree you'd have a job.
Our kids don't believe that and they are right not to..."

"Despite increases in computer access and technology training, technology is not being used to support the kinds of instruction believed to be most powerful. In this paper, we examine technology integration through the lens of the teacher as an agent of change: What are the necessary characteristics, or qualities, that enable teachers to leverage technology resources as meaningful pedagogical tools?
To answer this question, we discuss the literature related to four variables of teacher change: knowledge, self-efficacy, pedagogical beliefs, and subject and school culture. Specifically, we propose that teachers’ mindsets must change to include the idea that “teaching is not effective without the appropriate use of information and communication technologies (ICT) resources to facilitate student learning.” Implications are discussed in terms of both teacher education and professional development programs."

Moodle for Teachers (M4T) online workshop: The aim of the M4T workshop is to provide participants, who have never used Moodle or who would like to enrich their previous Moodle experiences, with the knowledge and skills to navigate a Moodle course, access resources and activities from a student perspective, and practice the same resources and activities in the team and class sandboxes as teachers.
The participants will collaborate as they develop a lesson on the Moodle.
The workshop will include both asynchronous (not dependent on time) and synchronous (time dependent) learning environments. The asynchronous will be conducted on the Moodle and the synchronous learning environment will be conducted on WizIQ through the M4T workshop.
Participants will watch tutorials, participate in discussions, and practice in individual and in the class sandbox areas. The participants will also use Google docs for support (24/7) and collaborative work (planning and presenting the lesson).
