AbstractSuccess in educational programmes often depends on learners being able to negotiate and manage a variety of digital literacy practices commensurate with the literacy demands of their course. This paper reports on preliminary findings of a multi-method PhD study which examines the digital literacy practices arising when an adult learner in a UK college completes writing assignments for her course. It explores whether she uses digital tools agentively and decisively in her personal life, in order to transform her classroom practice. Data show that mobilising personal digital literacy practices into classroom-based literacy events allows learners to successfully make the link between their own everyday digital literacy practices and the requirements of their course. It is argued that a “social practice” approach to digital literacies, along with actor-network theory sensibilities, allows researchers to observe the sensitivity of classroom-based digital literacy events to the layered multiplicity of their contexts.Keywordsdigital literacies, new literacy studies, multimodality, actor-network theory

I'll try it out again, Nik, and get back. Maybe I did something wrong. Thanks for your feedback.

It'll get better. These things usually do. On another note, I just made the best cup of coffee!

I'm Remy and I work at the company that invented and developed Knowble. We think it's great that so many of you appreciate Knowble and making the effort to give feedback.
To date we haven't found a proper method to make phrasal verbs work properly. We do consider adding phrasal verbs, but the sheer endless combinations of verbs, context and meaning make this a very though nut to crack. Also; Knowble is designed as a supplementary learners aid instead of an alternative language course. That's why we focus on what Knowble does best; improving vocabulary by reading news articles. This free version of Knowble offers a rudimentary pre-test. We have developed specific versions with better pre-tests for our clients, such as publishers. These versions also include target word lists, specific resources and translations from dictionaries (instead of Google translation used in the free version). In the paid version of Knowble teachers can also view the progress of individual students. Still, we hope that our free version of Knowble will continue to help people improve their English in a pleasant way. Keep your feedback coming! Delete the scoop?

For very basic numeracy, adding whole numbers. Might be used in a family numeracy context

- the image above is a great encapsulation of learning as it stands now for many, the mix between ‘have-to’, ‘need-to’, and ‘want-to’, nicely grouped into School, Work, and Life. Thankfully there is little in my learning that is ‘have-to’, a little of ‘need-to’ and plenty of ‘want-to’ – perhaps this is why I like what I do and have a passion be better at it? Delete the scoop?
