Exploiting Infographics for Digital Literacy & Critical Thinking

Exploiting Infographics for Digital Literacy & Critical Thinking | Literacy -LLN not to mention digital literacy in Training and assessment | Scoop.it

This ebook was designed with English language teachers in mind but should have some value for any teacher who is interested in developing their students’ digital literacy and critical thinking skills.

The book contains a wide range of suggested activities for both the creation and exploitation of infographics in the classroom.
It also helps teachers with tips and advice on how to plan and create infographics and suggestions for which tools to use to produce different types of infographic.

"The point of an education is to become literate ( a person that is able to read, write and communicate their ideas) and become productive citizens of society. Let’s define documenting learning as a visible, interconnected, meta-cognitive approach for creating evidence of one’s own learning process (or the learning process of our students) ..."

Many large players are interested in digital literacy: libraries, companies, faculty, journalists, even governments.  This could lead us to see digital literacy as an institutionally friendly force, even a conserving one.  What I'd like to argue is that digital literacy is ultimately destabilizing, even insurgent. (I have given several talks around the world about this…

Rosemary Tyrrell, Ed.D.'s curator insight, May 19, 2015 6:26 PM

Interesting free tool that could help with section 508 compliance. Only the paid versions of the program have the "natural" voices.

David Swaddle's comment, May 19, 2015 11:09 PM
I think the fact that they went for a professional 'real human' voice on their video says a lot for the product. When the manufacturer won't use it themselves you have to realise that it's not quite there yet.
