FrancoisMagnan's curator insight, May 3, 2013 11:45 AM

Google Reader is going away. You have, by now, heard that Google is shutting down its popular Reader program. There are countless programs jumping forward to take the place of the the soon to be departed RSS reader. While Google’s mostly unsupported, at least recently, app is web-based, not all of the alternatives are.

Serge Courrier's curator insight, April 15, 2013 11:16 AM

Open Reader API: Towards a RSS consensus

This is an effort to define a new common feed-syncing API protocol based (or not) on Google Reader. We recognise that we are many – many competing against each other – and many with conflicting agendas.

Serge Courrier's curator insight, April 21, 2013 5:53 AM

Jim Lerman's curator insight, April 24, 2013 1:09 AM

Ever since Google announced the demise of Reader, I've been looking for a replacement. I've tried several, and come up short. Today I decided to look at The Old Reader, which mimics "the old Google Reader" quite well. it's not quite as modern as the current Google Reader, but the fact that it looks so much like Google Reader makes me willing to forgive this slight lack of functionality. But then, The Old Reader is quite new and is probably working on some new bells and whistes right now (but not too many, I hope). I think I'm going to stick wih this one for awhile.

In trying to move my something like 75 RSS feeds from Google Reader to The Old Reader, I came across this article/guide that made the process as easy as pie. Thought someone else might benefit from this good advice too. Google Takeout seems like quite a nifty tool (when you read the article, you'll know what I mean.}
