A Quick Guide to Using Diigo with Your Students ~ Educational Technology and Mobile Learning

A Quick Guide to Using Diigo with Your Students ~ Educational Technology and Mobile Learning | Læring | Scoop.it

Social bookmarking is an online phenomenon that has seen the light in the last few years particularly with the outburst of web 2.0 technologies or what author Will Richardson calls the read/write web. To put it simply, a social bookmarking service is a web tool that allows you to not only bookmark web documents (as traditional bookmarking did) but also to annotate, edit, tag and share them with others. Social bookmarking can also be a collaborative endeavour in which a group of users share links with the same tags.

Millennials Speak Out: We Don’t Need Classrooms to Learn

Millennials Speak Out: We Don’t Need Classrooms to Learn | Læring | Scoop.it
Many college kids think education should become more virtual and driven by social media.

Professor John Covach teaches a MOOC at the University of Rochester. He told TakePart that MOOCs "should be a central part of any institution of higher learning—not just to produce students who will get jobs, but to foster the pursuit of knowledge in general."

omri kagan's curator insight, December 13, 2013 2:13 PM

This amazing site provides electonic tutoring in several subject areas. It is a free service that is both visual and auditory.  This site is rare in that it teaches topics that range from elementary through post-secondary level material.

Daniel Thurmond's curator insight, April 13, 2014 11:21 AM

This tool is great for both reinforcement of topics or even for primary student learning. It is a resource where a huge number of concepts are taught by an instructor voicing over the video. The instruction is sound and easy to understand. It could be used to solidify a concept or be the students first encounter with the topic. It can be used at the infusion level but mostly will be used at the adoption or adaption level.

omri kagan's curator insight, July 16, 2014 1:41 PM

Do you earn better from videos?  Did you have a bad day in class and couldn't pay attention?  Did you not understand the content the way that I presented it?

Visit the Khan Academy and you will find an extensive collection of excellent video tutorials about geometry as well as several other topics.  The service is free!

* Please communicate with one another about the ways that you are able to use this resource effectively.  Let this learning community know about any specific uses that worked very well in your classroom so that we can all share our best ideas as we improve teaching practices and student outcomes.  *

“ Digital kompetanse handler ikke om å bruke ny teknologi på gamle prosesser, men å kunne utnytte nye digitale tjenester til å arbeide på andre måter enn tidligere. Det krever mye mer enn å lære seg å bruke Office-pakken.”
