A smartphone grocery app is using algorithms and user shopping habits to predict when New York shoppers run out of milk, bread, and other household items. Like many existing supermarket apps, the software links users to their local supermarket and allows them to pre-purchase items at a finger click. But what makes the app, Rosie, a bit different is that it uses a blend of algorithms and individual habits to predict when an account holder will run out individual household items. The service then automatically finds the cheapest price for the item predicted to be running low in the user's fridge or pantry. Rosie then reserves that item for the user at their nearest store, and also organises a delivery service if needed. Smartphones have been growing in popularity with supermarkets and consumer brands, with existing apps like "Remember The Milk" focusing on dairy.
