Lesson to Parents Yogi Bhajan

Lesson to Parents Yogi Bhajan | Kundalini Yoga | Scoop.it

February 19, 1985 Excerpted from a talk in Los Angeles

In childhood you were never taught responsibility. You have been shoved and pushed. The majority of child raising I have seen in this country is very regimental. Nobody uses the heart; it is all a head thing. This kind of childhood is very painful. If I would have been raised as we raise children here, I would have committed suicide at the age of two. True! The way you address your children is so rude, so inhuman, so neurotic! You are so discourteous when speaking to your children. In spite of that fact that you think you are very loving parents. You never say to a child, "Please:' You never call a child by his full name. You never treat him like a person, or her like a person. You just treat them like puppies and you expect them to learn how to live. Impossible.

I remember when I was almost three or four years old, how I was addressed. My full name was always called. My mother never ever called me by a nickname. Never...

Meditation for Emotional Balance

Meditation for Emotional Balance | Kundalini Yoga | Scoop.it

Before practicing this meditation drink a glass of water. Sit in Easy Pose.

Mudra: Place the arms across the chest and lock hands under the armpits, with palms open and against the body. Raise the shoulders up tightly against the earlobes, without cramping the neck muscles. Apply Neck Lock.

Eyes: Close the eyes.

Breath: The breath will automatically become slow.

Time: Continue for 3 minutes, gradually increasing to 11 minutes.

Comments: This meditation is called Sunia(n) Antar. It is very good for women. It is essential at times when one is worried or upset and doesn’t know what to do, or when one feels like screaming, yelling, and misbehaving. When out of focus or emotional, attention should be given to the body’s water balance and breath rate. Humans are approximately 70 percent water, and behavior depends upon the relation of water and earth, air and ether. Breath, representing air and ether, is the rhythm of life. Normally we breathe 15 times a minute, but when we are able to rhythmically slow down the breath to only 4 breaths per minute, we have indirect control over our minds. This control eliminates obnoxious behavior, promoting a calm mind regardless of the state of affairs. When there is a water imbalance in the system, and the kidneys are under pressure, it can cause worry and upset. Drinking water, pulling the shoulders up to the ears and tightly locking the entire upper area creates a solid brake that can be applied to the four sides of the brain. After 2 or 3 minutes, thoughts will still be there, but one does not feel them. This is a very effective method of balancing the functional brain.

How Advertising and Entertainment Shapes Your Subconscious | Natural Society | Kundalini Yoga | Scoop.it

They say the subconscious is more powerful than the conscious. Usually, people are more influenced by their innate subconscious desires or intent than a rational and planned decision. This aspect of human nature is heavily influenced by your daily activity. How Corporations Influence Your Subconscious

In western society, the subconscious mind of the individual is often subject to a number of heavy influences, through entertainment mediums especially. Television, movies, and music create a profound subconscious effect on the human mind that influences and dictates the choices that they will make to at least some degree.

Basic Rules

Just like any other walk of life, the path of Yoga expects the practitioners to follow some rules. Merely practicing Yoga techniques without following these rules will take the practitioner nowhere. Though strict Yoga life calls for many rules and behavioral traits, beginners should at least adhere to the following four rules:

Have firm faith on the path of Yoga.Be contented with what you get. Do not crave for material pleasures.Keep your body and mind clean.

Bodily cleaning can be achieved through bath and purificatory techniques such as fasting. Equally important is to protect your mind from six enemies namely Lust, Anger, Greed, Delusion, Pride and Envy.

Always consume wholesome diet in moderate quantity. Imagine your stomach to be consisting of four parts. Fill two parts with solid food, one with liquid and keep one part empty for gas formation. Consume food items that are easy to digest. Avoid oily, spicy, pungent and stale food

Meditation to Heal a Broken Heart

As we enter into the Aquarian Age -- we are evolving as a new human species and that means mastering our emotional body as a necessary step to awakening our self-sensory system. the magnetic field of the Earth is changing and coming to zero. We are connected to the Earth -- as she is our mother we too are affected -- we are a package deal -- the earth and humans.(like fleas on a dog -- can't get off the ride. One of the ways it will affect us is that our emotions will be much more on the surface - less controllable by old ways of self medicating.

The Yoga Revolution... and Its Opponents | Psychology Today

The Yoga Revolution... and Its Opponents | Psychology Today | Kundalini Yoga | Scoop.it

Yoga is an ancient Indian discipline with the ultimate goals of uniting mind, body, and spirit, and of transcending the boundaries of the self to become one with the universal consciousness. It began in India thousands of years ago, taught by swamis to their students. The mind-body benefits of Yoga have been widely touted by health magazines and celebrities, yet some experts have warned that there are risks in practicing complicated Yoga poses without correct mental preparation and spiritual mindset. The New York Times has added fuel to the fire by publishing an article describing serious injuries resulting from Yoga, such as spinal stenosis, stroke, or nerve compression. Yoga loyalists retort that these stories of injury are anecdotal and not based on controlled studies. It is the opinion of this author that we shouldn't be hanging up our Yoga mats just yet, although some precautions are in order. Here 's why...

How I got away with stolen cookies and created an alternate reality: a clue to the strategy used by big pharma and the APA

How I got away with stolen cookies and created an alternate reality: a clue to the strategy used by big pharma and the APA | Kundalini Yoga | Scoop.it

(NaturalNews) In the early days of my training as a psychotherapist, I chose an odd mentor, an old man with white hair and steely blue eyes who fit the classic description of a sage. Every month a small group of us would venture out to his hide away in some obscure village in northern New Mexico and sit at his feet, reveling in the mysteries of the psychotherapeutic process. His name was Zink, and sometimes he gave us very strange assignments.

Once he said, "I want to you steal some cookies from the grocery store. But don't just sneak in there and put a box under your coat. Do it in a way in which you create a distorted reality and walk out of that store with the manager's permission to take the
cookies.

Adi Shakti mantra meaning, lyrics, pronunciation and translation.

Adi Shakti mantra meaning, lyrics, pronunciation and translation. | Kundalini Yoga | Scoop.it

The Adi Shakti Mantra tunes one into the frequency of the Divine Mother, and to the primal protective, generating energy. It is said that chanting it eliminates fears and fulfills desires.

Some quotes Yogi Bhajan gave on this mantra specifically for women:
"Merge in the Maha Shakti. This is enough to take away your misfortune. This will carve out of you a woman. Woman needs her own Shakti, not anybody else will do it. When a woman chants the Kundalini Bhakti mantra, God clears the way. This is not a religion, it is a reality. Woman is not born to suffer, and woman needs her own power."

"When India and Indian women knew this mantra, it dwelt in the land of milk and honey."

Yogi Bhajan taught that after conception, the soul enters into the womb of a mother on the 120th day. This is a day of celebration and when the soul/child is entering the womb this chant is traditional.
