Great OER option for literature.

Elizabeth Sky-McIlvain's comment, April 7, 2013 9:24 AM
This is definitely a great resource for those who teach or read public domain literature - ranging from translated commentaries, to history and cultural history, to Raymond Chandler, to some classic children's titles. Some titles are relatively new. Books can be "borrowed" to be read in .pdf format or downloaded in ePub or .pdf formats for eReaders or tablets or smartphones. This is a library of texts, but little attempt has been made to organize it. If you have time to just browse by title, do so (no descriptive text provided), but it might be better to search for a text, subject, or author with GoodReads or Amazon open in another tab. Many public libraries subscribe, making the process smoother. Loans are for 2 weeks.

Basal Alignment Project / What is the Basal Alignment Project?

Basal Alignment Project / What is the Basal Alignment Project? | Kool Tools for Schools | Scoop.it
Kristina Holzweiss's insight:

The Council of the Great City Schools and Student Achievement Partners partnered together to launch an initiative called the Basal Alignment Project (BAP). Our goal is to build district capacity for writing text-dependent questions to current Reading/ELA textbooks that would be available for teachers to use during the 2012-2013 school year. BAP provides focused training on evaluating existing questions for alignment and writing good text-dependent questions to sources. These new resources will require students to read and respond to questions that require a closer reading of the text.
