Cracking the KM code: start by asking why not what

Cracking the KM code: start by asking why not what | Knowledge and Information Management | Scoop.it
Cracking the KM code: start by asking why not what. The future relevance of Knowledge Management depends on it.
Michael Norton's insight:

The bottom line  is that KM, in its established tool-centric form, no longer has fitness with the landscape (econmic or other) and people can fight to conserve what is familiar, but it will continue to drift. You can either co-develop the future through a process of creative destruction or you can wake to find yourself irrelevant via an overwhelming force of change. The struggle you feel on LinkedIn forums and the like is the tension between a desire to “conserve” what is/has been know, what people are familiar/”comfortable” with, and the growing rebellion (dissatisfaction at all levels – user to decision-maker) that will reach a tipping point toward a capability-centric (holistic) approach when speaking of the management of organisational knowledge resources.

Actively managing knowledge can help companies increase their chances of success by facilitating decision-making, building learning environments by making learning routine, and stimulating cultural change and innovation
