The Future of Mobility [Infographic]

The Future of Mobility [Infographic] | Kit's social | Scoop.it

An astounding 80 percent of the world’s population now has a mobile phone—and 84 percent is unwilling to go a single day without their phone. About 45 percent of Americans say they can’t go more than a few hours without checking their phones. In 2012 there were five billion mobile phones in the world—1.8 billion of these were smart phones.

Facebook now reaches 76 percent of the smartphone market, and it accounts for 23 percent of total time spent using apps each month.

The next five most used applications are Google apps, and they account for 10 percent of app usage time. One of the latest smartphone trends is that things are getting less touchy but more sensitive. Gestures and other non-tap inputs are on the rise. Casting a sidelong glance, for example, can pause a video. Some apps are being developed that will switch from manual to voice to text to gesture, depending on what you are doing...

Mobile Commerce:

> "Mobile Shopping accounted for 11% of e-commerce in the 4th quarter of 2012 (up from 3% 2 years earlier)."

> Roughly 58% of smartphone users have made purchases on their smartphones.

> These Mobile Shoppers typically use smartphones for 50 to 60% of the Shopping."

Seeking to manage our attention and avoid distraction is one thing, but first we need to be aware of where our attention is going. As smartphones are increasingly used, this infographic highlights in just what way we use our phones. 1 in 5 people check their phone every ten minutes... something tells me that the smartphone may be one of the biggest sources of modern distraction!

Studying is not the intended function of this application, however, by uploading lecture slides as images, or taking pictures of the board during class, then uploading these images to Pixntell, would allow you to create your very own custom Flashcards. By recording your own audio notes to accompany the images, you could create short movies that could act as bitesize recap tools to support your revision, or prompts for studying, or a visual plan for your coursework.

See Brian, there is no "cut off" for good articles, just user ability and interest to finish the read... yes, the medium helps (in your case you mentioned "listen") whatever works. In any case, believing that a user won't read an article because it is too long is a fallacy. Someone who believes that simply is not understanding their audience and not giving them what they need and how they need it in digital format.
Brian Yanish - MarketingHits.com's comment, July 20, 2013 3:07 PM
As platforms change for content exposure with filters such as curation, on site like Scoop.it, writers need to remember that their readers may be looking for more information than a brief 500 word article because they have clicked through from a filtered source, not a random Google search.
Brian Yanish - MarketingHits.com's comment, July 20, 2013 3:14 PM
Terry, when I look an article written by someone like Avinash Kaushik, I know that what I'm going to read is well thought out with sources to back it up. Not just something written as Google bait. eg. http://www.kaushik.net/avinash/analytics-tips-improve-search-social-compound-metrics/

How to Show Your Clients the Value of Facebook in 7 Easy Steps

How to Show Your Clients the Value of Facebook in 7 Easy Steps | Kit's social | Scoop.it

Have you ever had clients who weren't yet sold onFacebook? Most people know Facebook could potentially help them grow their businesses, but getting a page set up and managed properly can still be a daunting task for many folks.

First off, you might need to nudge your clients toward acting. When researching your pitch, find examples of similar businesses that have vibrant Facebook presences. Let the clients know what they're missing out on. You can also get their attention by showing them the data on Facebook's exponential user growth and the mind-blowing predictions of continued growth. Here you can even focus on the clients' particular markets. Finally, show them some examples of pages you've helped develop in order to establish your own credibility.

Martin (Marty) Smith's comment, July 10, 2013 7:16 PM
Had an interesting follow on conversation with Jan Gordon about the question of how much. MORE is an important idea because you can't analyze feedback on content you don't create and publish. More can also be a turnoff for some, but the way we consume content along with everything else is changing. Instead of reading everything all the way through we dip in and dip out. Twitter and other social nets are either leading or reinforcing this ADD-like behavior. Well let's not judge it. It is what it is. No one READS anymore we scan so MORE scanable content in more places is good. Even BAD content is valuable since its creator learns NOT to create that kind of content, but ONLY if they publish. If a team "Sistine Chapels" their content waiting for a perfection that will never arrive they kill feedback needed to thrive.

Aggregate, Curate and Publish Across Web, Social and Email with OpenTopic

Aggregate, Curate and Publish Across Web, Social and Email with OpenTopic | Kit's social | Scoop.it

Via Robin Good

Jose Jordan's curator insight, June 28, 2013 1:48 PM
