10 steps to a million dollar dream kitchen Fox News Picture a limitless bank account at your disposal, where despite practicality or common sense, you have enough means to purchase anything that your heart desires, and no one is there to stop you...
If you've been following my posts, you know that recently I have been intrigued by Australian design. Particularly Australian kitchen designs (like this one by Designer Darren James). Not only are these kitchens gorgeous, I am also seeing a definte trend towards seperating the kitchen into two distinct areas.
The larger showier area is filled with beautiful materials, stunning design details, and seating so that guests can enjoy your culinary prowess. The smaller, slightly concealed area is more utilitarian and houses the refrigerator and that countertop clutter, (toasters, mixers, etc...) that we are loathe to put away.
In other examples that I've seen of this concept, the outer kitchen becomes a true show space with very limited cabinetry, and often just the cooking appliance and a prep sink, and even the main sink and dishwasher have been moved into the secondary space. I mean who really wants to stare at that sink & dirty dishes while you are eating, right?
As kitchens become more and more the heart of the home, the center of entertaining and being in each others company, it's a trend enjoy and I hope to see more of! - Shylo
