We beat the past; they did not worship the shovel or the wheel but we worship the gadget!

We beat the past; they did not worship the shovel or the wheel but we worship the gadget! | Kids and APPs | Scoop.it

'Kids and Apps' is not only for mums worried about their kids.

It's about the kind of world we're building.

Yes, I agree, techno is great!

But the world cannot survive just by being technologically intelligent.

Kindness has to be there.

Healthy emotional intelligence too!

We're in a dangerous phase with people much more knowledgeable than before but at the same time much less compassionate.

A selfish caveman with a stone axe couldn't have done extensive damage but a knowledgeable person who is angry and with bad intentions certainly can do so.

If the intention of kindness isn't there then it's a frightening scenario.

We're cleverer but not better than the caveman.

We're still violent at heart and hurt others in the world.

Sometimes we know what we're doing and sometimes we don't.

There are ways to start thinking about what to do.

There are many small, easy steps we can all take to greatly improve the level of compassion in the world in which we live.

There are people who have a good heart 24/7.

They don'y just act good for five minutes.

These scattered people will need to be re-grouped at some point so they can produce ideas and ways to shape the future.

Shape not just a better future but a future where kindness is a word used every day by everybody.

What do I do if I really want an iToy or any other material object of happiness that my family may not be able to afford?

I might be able to get what I want after fits of anger, threats or by using self-pitying means.

When I finally get what I want, am I happy?

Are the people near to my heart happy?

Does my happiness bring suffering to others?

There are people selling their own body parts for a Smartphone!

If this isn't worshipping material things then I don't know what is!

Twenty years from now these IT toys will be obsolete.

We must stop worshipping these gadgets now!

This is one of many small steps we can all take regardless of gender, religion, wealth or age.

It's time to increase the level of consciousness so we can guide our societies towards becoming healthier societies.

Mums would not be worried if their children had both techno awareness and goodness.

The worrying part comes from the lack of kindness in human evolution.

It's time for us to develop kindness both within ourselves and for others.

Mums are worried - and they aren't wrong.

They want their kids to be IT savvy - and kind as well.

The size of one's world is the size of one's heart.

Thank you for reading.
