Summary: South American journalist Paul Faustino starts his interview with the World Cup soccer star, El Gato. He expected to be recording the thoughts of a goalkeeper at the height of his career. He never thought he would hear a breath taking story of a young, and lonely boy growing up in the middle of a rain forest. Paul learns about El Gato who wondered upon a mysterious soccer field and found the ghost within, that appeared to him daily and trained him to become the greatest goalkeeper ever known. He is suffers from hallucinations due to the stress of the game. Will the readers and Paul Faustino find some truth to his fantastic tale?
Theme: I believe there is alot you can take from this book. But I believe the major theme is the idea of making the best out of your situation, even if its unbarrable. El Gato lived in the rain forest, in South America and faced harish situations. He would wander through the forest alone. Most of the time he had no one and no friends to hang out with. That did not stop him from reaching for the stars, and becoming the greatest goal keeper of all time. This I believe shows another major theme of the book to never give up.
Review: I liked this book. It was intresting finding out the thoughts and ideas of El Gato. The author did a great job on getting deeper and deeper in to El Gato's life, as the book continued. Also i liked that it was a story about a sports player overcoming adversy and was very detremined to get better. It was a inspirational story.
