Twittratr is a StartupWeekend project that started simply with the question of whether tweets about Obama were generally positive or negative in nature. We figured, if we're tracking opinion surrounding Obama, couldn't we do that with any topic? A few of us liked the idea, so we set out to build it. Kindly I invite you to join free http://tiny.cc/docedtech20 and collaborate in #edtech20 #socialmedia #curation and #semantic global project gateway to knowledge in #education20 I also invite you to see registered #edtech20 wiziq class on #mmvc11 click here http://edtech20curationprojectineducation.blogspot.com/2011/07/introduction-for-free-edtech20.html ; http://central.ly/web20education/ http://unhub.com/web20education/ Please write CAREFULLY your name, email , country , twitter username, your google plus, your blog and I will invite you to join #edtech20 PLN http://web20ineducation2010.ning.com/ and wiki https://web20andsocialmediaineducation2010.wikispaces.com/ and I will make a wiki page with all collaborators . We built a list of positive keywords and a list of negative keywords. We search Twitter for a keyword and the results we get back are crossreferenced against our adjective lists, then displayed accordingly. There are obvious issues with this, so if you have any ideas on how we could do this better let us know. Partnerships We would love to be get access to a semantic analysis tool like Crawdad Technologies, or Visible Technologies. We've sent some emails, but if anyone out there wants to help feel free shoot us an email!

A lack of pupil engagement is an issue which I have identified in my own practice, but is also an issue which has been highlighted nationally (HMIe 2009, p.48) and by others in my school. Harris (2010) classifies two types of ...

Helping Children Communicate Effectively via Technology
From a young age children need to be taught how to communicate via technology effectively. Using comment starters to aid in purposeful communication is one way. When students leave comments on blogs, for example, they are prompted allowing insightful and focused comments.

Ever since Google introduced Google+ to us a few months back we have seen a rapid acceleration in features both on Facebook and Google+, particularly on the personal front, whilst business pages and groups are being left behind. The one thing that truly baffles me is how Google are treating it’s business customers. One group that has been left behind so far on Facebook are Facebook Pages, the features are pretty ordinary compared to what you get on your personal profile! For all of us in the business world, well, we just need Google to enter the business fray with Google Plus (later this year) and finally we will then see a host of new services on Facebook for businesses and the real fight will begin!

Miguel Brechner's keynote this morning focused on the CEIBAL one-laptop-per-child project in the schools of Uruguay. Uruguay is only a small South American country, about the size of Wales, and with a small population, and in the past it has not been particularly well known for its educational achievements. But today the spotlight was well and truly on Uruguay. In a gently humourous style, and laced with football analogies (he delighted in reminded his audience that Uruguay had once beaten Brazil to win the Soccer World Cup), Miguel Brechner demonstrated how giving a free laptop to each child has liberated them to learn in their own way and in their own time. Children now really want to go to school he said, and are upset if they miss even a day. He showed how the education landscape has been changed in Uruguay, and how social equality is being achieved among the youth of his country. Clearly very passionate about his cause, Brechner argued that not only should is access to broadband absolutely essential for education, in today's connected world, it should also be considered a human right. While many of us had heard these mantras before, given that Negroponte's vision has been in existence for well over a decade, we were all nevertheless impressed by the manner in which this project had been implemented, in humility, a great sense of purpose and with an eye on the future for Uruguay's youth.
