Integrating global issues in the creative English language classroom | Keep learning | Scoop.it
This publication has a twofold aim – to help students learn a language creatively whilst at the same time raising awareness of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals through bringing together a range of innovative ideas for teaching creatively and addressing these key issues. The activities include enabling students to think creatively about sustainable food and food supplies, creating energy which does not harm the environment, and collaborating with other students globally to diminish the digital divide.

Judith Peterson's curator insight, September 11, 5:03 PM
I have used Quia to create games to help my students learn the elements and principles of design and other art facts with my high school art classes. The games provided a safe place for them to test themselves on what they have learned. They excitedly shared their scores with their peers and took part in friendly competition. I was delighted that my entire class worked until they got 100%! Needless to say by the time they took their final exam, they were READY!

An anatomy of the Modern Learning Professional

An anatomy of the Modern Learning Professional | Keep learning | Scoop.it

In 2017 I am hoping for change: but not as a result of VR, mobile or micro-learning. I am hoping that we will adopt new approaches and new ways of thinking about learning, that in turn allow us to design experiences and resources that inspire and support learning in new ways (regardless of the technology to hand).

During the last couple of decades we have begun the process of marrying a new conception of learning to new capability sets. The result has been to redefine the process of learning design and the range of learning formats that we produce. And we have made some progress - the ambition of shifting 'from courses to resources' has spread, since I first talked about it five years ago, and it's not uncommon to meet colleagues who are trying to effect this change.

Curtin Badges

Curtin Badges | Keep learning | Scoop.it

A digital badge is an online indicator of an accomplishment or affiliation that contains links that help explain the context, meaning, processes and results of learning engagements.

Badges can be outward or internal facing markers of achievement. When displayed to the world, a badge reflects one’s skills and capabilities; and carries the university’s reputation for quality teaching and learning. When used internally, a badge indicates passing a milestone along a journey toward a goal.

Research-Influenced Learning Spaces

Research-Influenced Learning Spaces | Keep learning | Scoop.it

“We need to move away from classroom design that is “Pinterest pretty” and use research/design thinking to guide the work.” – Eric Sheninger and Tom Murray

When Tom Murray and I set out to write Learning Transformed our goal was to connect as much research as possible to our ideas and statements as well as the amazing work taking place in schools, known in the book as Innovative Practices in Action (IPA’s). Research should be used to inform as well as influence the actions we take to implement sustainable change at scale. It is also a great way to move those who are resistant to change to embrace new ideas. Below is an adapted section of Chapter 4 from our book that looks as research that can influence learning space design in classrooms and schools.
