We wish to report a criminal complaint filed by plagiarism against Coca-Cola Company. This is the exact reproduction of a painting mural that was destroyed by the tsunami of February 27, 2010 in the town of Dichato, Chile. The mural was duly registered with the Department of Intellectual Rights Dibam 2012. Next March 10, 2015 will be the first hearing took between artist Alejandro Escribano and his counsel and offended and representatives of Coca-Cola suspicion of plagiarism. The photographs of the original and plagiarism are awesome. Attached comparative photographs of the work. The copy was made without the permission of the artist, not even his name or authorship is mentioned, which is clearly an offense under Law 17.336 on intellectual property in Chile.

When They Read But Don’t Understand: The Leap From Decoding To Comprehension
by Grant Wiggins, Authentic Education
How well are we doing in comprehension of text as a nation? You know the answer.
Susan Grigsby @sksgrigsby's insight:

Fascinating article by Grant Wiggins that will resonate with you and your reading/ELA teachers. His points are so obvious I never saw them before but I love how he points out that we, as teachers, like to tell students to re-read which is just as unhelpful as telling them to "think harder." If they are not comprehending in the first place, how will re-reading make a difference if we don't know where the gaps in comprehension exist? I'm looking forward to the promised subsequent posts on this.

Susan Grigsby @sksgrigsby's insight:

This is especially interesting to K-12 teacher-librarians since we are tasked with making sure students graduate "college and career ready." But what if college is significantly changed? What if "microdegrees" and employer-credentialed programs become the norm as college tuition continues to go up? No one wants to graduate with a Bachelor's degree and $80k in debt.
